I have no opinion... I called the CIP proofhouses, and wrote to Pietta... It is safe to use full chambers of swiss 1 in a brass framed rem... 777 is on par with swiss 1. I agree with the other comments, though... Wear signs will probably appear faster with full loads.

I have found .457 minie (120grains)... is it worth buiyng some? Has someone tried this kind of bullets in revolvers?

You can load any kind and any quantity of black powder (or substitute) without risks, provided: -pure lead bullets -no air between bullet and powder (or spacer if not a full load) Now, for accuracy, 24grains are often better than full loads... you should try different bullet sizes and...

Thank you Foto Joe for your insight about the compared behaviour of bp and smokeless powders. Being given that even experts like Beauhooligan should (maybe) make mistakes with smokeless loads, I will stick with black powder and pure lead, which is almost foolproof (perfect for me...).

Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise Beauhooligan. Now, I'm wondering why smokeless powders are not blowing (usually) guns when not filling cases, while black powder would. Can someone explain this to me? (slowly... :) )

Schuetzen is a german black powder isn't it? Swiss bp comes from the "poudrerie d'Aubonne"... I think it can be compared to 777. I would be surprised to read tests showing a goex on the same level than swiss... :D

Very nice shooting :) I have never been touched by a cap (1075 from Dynamit Nobel) when firing mine... but the blowback is so strong with full chambers of swiss 1 bp, that I strongly recommend safety glasses (I wear glasses anyway...).

I don't think 777 is stronger than swiss1 black powder... I can't even compare, as there is no way to buy 777 near my home. (swiss 1 is 40% stronger than other bp brands...)

It is my favorite bp gun... it is the most acurate repeating bp gun I have... and it is the most powerful (even my walker can't compete...) And it is the exact (except for the cylinder) replica of the n°34 from remington...

1488 FPS with .457/143 grains round ball (full chambers of Swiss1 black powder)... I love mine... :)

Bullets=US made round lead balls from hornady (<>47grains), very light, very fast (supersonic with swiss 1), and leaving the max room for powder. I just realized: US bullets, Italian replica, german caps, swiss powder... this is globalization...

Just for info, you got me curious and I bought a steel frame .32 remington/Pietta: Bullet=hornady 32(.315), Powder=Swiss 1 black powder (full chamber...) Velocity=>1180fps!!! Energy=> 147ft/lbs... Very nice toy...:cool:

I like .457 RBs... And Swiss pure black powder... Full load gives 1285fps in my 8" remmy ... And 523ft/lbs... I reach 703ft/lbs with a 18" remmy with the same load (1488fps)... Size matters. Those 58rems are like modern .44/.45 (not magnums) except for the fouling related to black powder.

I love those kind of pouches... I have 2 dual cylinder belt pouch... In which I keep my 4 spare cylinders. (caped). Don't try to break in my home... ;)
