Thoughts on fixing a screwed up AK barrel?

Can't you just grind the threads off, then smooth it over?

M1 Garand vs M1A Super match

Accuracy: Only way to tell is to experiment. With all guns accuracy may vary from individual specimens. Range: .30-06 will have slightly better range/trajectory/velocity. Whatever gun you choose to keep, it may be in your interest to get a bolt gun in the same caliber. Good Luck

FFL is trying to steal my father in laws pistol

@SARDiver Technically, yes, but then again everything gun related in the US has gone to heck since 1968, where the ATF seems to have free reign over everything, they can defines something as illegal without a law being past apparently, with them banning open bolt guns.

Norway tragedy: politics proposing further gun control laws

If the killer bought his gun through a legal channel, then it only gives pro gun control people steam, and over in Norway it indicates that stricter gun laws might be the next (mistaken) step. Like anything else, be it guns, civil unions, abortion etc., just because a minority abuse that right...

    Hakim and AG42s

My affinity for the Hakim and AG42 was b/c a while ago my friend picked a Hakim up on consignment, for 250. It has a fair barrel and according to the LGS owner he got it from, he got one in before it in about the same condition for the same price. I like the accuracy of it, he put a scope on it...

    Hakim and AG42s

Yeah, I deal only with auction arms atm, because Gbroker has that stupid charge for a free email (its trite if you ask me) and their terms favor the seller more than the buyer. Dale, Locally speaking, prices are well above my budget. I will not pay more than 275 for any SKS because for a...

    Hakim and AG42s

Yeah, I had a 275 deal on a chinese SKS, but the guy kept postponing the FTF, so I told him to find another buyer. Now, most shows have 525 for just a lowly yugo (I will not buy a Yugo) and LG stores don't have them stocked. And now, I'm just <deleted> sick of them.

    Hakim and AG42s

@Murphy I collect and shoot mostly foreign rifles, I have little affinity for a Garand or Carbine. Mainly the carbine is a long barreled pistol and I can't use peep sights that are close to my eye. Looks like a VZ-58 or AKM is what I'll have to get....

    Hakim and AG42s

Okay, can you tell me an inexpensive rifle that uses an available caliber, can be loaded directly with strippers and isn't an SKS?

    Hakim and AG42s

I'm kind of new to the semi auto scene, after a failed negotiation to get an SKS, I'm looking at other rifles. Anyone care to comment on these rifles, and what a good price is for them? With SKS prices on the rise, I feel the need to look at other military rifles.

mosin nagant with 5 rounds = nose dive

Your interruptor is bad, replacing it should alleviate the issue. The interruptor is malfunctioning under magazine pressure.

At what age should I introduce my son to firearms.

You really have to judge it based on maturity. I shot my first gun when I was 6, and in part b/c I grew up a pacifist, I didn't own a gun until I was 17. Now, I have 5 bolt guns and an SKS.

which rifle would you buy? Which should I buy?

The M1A is the best gun you have on the list, and if you look around you can get a Polytech M14/M1A for under 1k. If not, the mossberg shotgun will be the next best thing

    .50-70 Sharps

My father is a big fan of the large caliber rifles. He has a Vetterli in the process of centrefire conversion. When i said 'worth the time" he is an avid shooter and meaning are they worth the time of reloading and such. Whats a good alternative to using blackpowder? He dislikes pyrodex, but...

    Dry lube for stripper clips?

I have stripper clips and I find loading from them that the clips experience some galling from the ammo scraping them. Is there a suitable dry lube that can be used to alleviate this?

    .50-70 Sharps

So at the antique shop my father owns, a man came in and he said he wanted to bring in a Sharps rifle in .50-70 and he said it had a 3-groove bore and that it fired just fine. He called me up (I live 3-4 hours away) and wanted me to ask about ammo availability, and he also wants me to drive down...

My first machine gun (not a Mac)

I know a few counties in virginia where they have wide, open hills, if you are located in VA. No people in sight for several miles, except for hillbillies, and they make good target practice. (I kid, I kid.)
