    Backpacking pistol suggestion

+1 on the 10 MM Glocks. Granted 10 MM is not a "mainstream" cartridge, however I honestly don't think you can beat a G20 or G29 for firepower and weight. They also handle the cartridge extremely well. There's not much you'd have to worry about with that combination.

    Glock 29 10mm

The 29 is my favorite Glock. As far as kick goes, I've shot 10mm out of a Kimber 1911, and IMHO, the 29 has more control than a 5" steel 1911 with the same load. It's got some muzzle flip, but I don't find it punishing. I guess it depends on load. Georgia Arms has some great practice ammo...

Went to Wal-Mart and found some .380

I just read in Guns and Ammo that .380 is a "seasonal" round, in which they only manufacture it once per year. November / December was the last time I saw .380 readily available, so I assume that season is approaching!

    Glock 20 10mm opinions

The 29 is a great carry powerhouse. I use it for hiking and camping. Georgia Arms also has some decent and affordable 10mm loads. www.georgia-arms.com

Best SHTF rifle/carbine on a BUDGET

I have to agree with ernunnos. A true budget SHTF rifle would be a lever action in .357, .44, or 30-30. The chances of a real EOTWAWKI secenario are quite slim to almost zero. Most engagements will be at 100 yards or less in some Katrina-like scenario. Any of the three calibers will be...

    10mm vrs .45 ACP +P

Good quality relatively inexpensive 10mm can be also had at www.georgia-arms.com. Honestly, I don't really like the 1911s in 10mm. I've owned them and sold them. If you can get used to the large grip, I'd do a Glock 20 or 29. Personally, 15 rounds of 10mm in one mag is a whole lot of...

    Looking for a good 9mm

Of what you have listed, honestly, you can't go wrong with either of them. Its going to boil down to personal preference. How does it feel in your hand, how you like the trigger pull, etc., etc. The main differences being the Browning has a single action trigger, where all it does is...

    Opinions on 10mm Glock

I've purchased a Kimber Eclipse 10mm and a Glock 29. After a couple of years, the Glock 29 has consistently been my trail and camping gun. Its light, it can use 15 round magazines, and it has literally less felt recoil than the much heavier Eclipse. All that and the Glock is half the price of...

.32ACP NAA Guardian, Kel-tec P3AT or Kahr PM9 for pocket carry

I'd prefer the Kel-tec P32, but it isn't available in MD. It is reliable and a decent gun, but it is a little heavy for the caliber (it weighs about the same as my .38spl S&W 442). I've had a P32, and it was a nice gun. I didn't find it heavy at all for pocket carry, and I've had a 642 also...

    Opinions on the Glock 29?

I have a 29. I could certainly get the Pierce extensions for the 10 round mags. It gives you room for your pinky and you certainly need that for control. The great thing about 10mm is that it has such a wide range of loadings. Can it recoil? You bet. Double-Tap puts out 750 ft-lb loadings...

Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97S Rifle

Forward assist is an easy one. This came about from Vietnam when the army didn't use proper cleaning techniques nor chrome chambers. Things would rust and the bolt wouldn't close completely. The problem is you DON'T want to do this!! It very frequently competely jammed the rifle for good and...

Next Bay Area Shoot: polling for dates

Ooooh. Tell me about the SU-16! It seems really worthy for 5lbs. How did it shoot? I heard they get really hot after 200 rounds. Oh, and tell us about the full auto pellet gun. How did that work? I was looking at one of those too...

    1911forum

layman-friendly definition of "point blank range"

Actually, Brandon Lee was not killed by a blank per se. There was a squib load in the barrel which no one knew about and the blank that was fired was enough to dislodge it and kill him. Blank cartridges have a wad in them, so unless you are more than a few feet away, you need to be extremely...

    Best gun quote?

Perl Sig Script. Well, you would have to install ActiveState Perl on your computer (http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/Windows/5.8/ActivePerl-5.8.6.811-MSWin32-x86-122208.msi) then put my script in your startup folder and modify it to suit your tastes with a text editor. Essentially...
