    642 Club Part Three

I carry the 642 Pro Series - cut for moon clips. Makes for fast reloads, though I must say that speed strips are easier to carry in my pocket than are the loaded moonclips.

Some questions for those that use .38 Spl/.38 Spl +P for personal protection.

My vote: Practice point shooting your snub rapid fire until you can put them all COM and it won't matter a whole heck of a lot what ammo you use. But if I had to pick one, it would be the Buffalo Bore 158gr SD ammo.

    press recomendation?

+1 on the Lee products. I've found their products to be relatively inexpensive, yet reliable. I would recommend their customer service too.

    Shopping for a .22 revolver

I'm in the same boat; trying to find an affordable .22 LR revolver. I have a Taurus 94 which in the process of selling - too many issues to list (but it DOES go bang). My summation; wait and buy a new SP101 or a new S&W. The used ones are too close in price to the used ones - so for another...

    single six problems

Well, I guess you could just start singing; "don't worry, be happy" that you now have a .22 mag! Ammo costs more than .22LR but less than a lot of other stuff. I mean really, for 165 beans, you made out fine.

    Next gun: .357 Revolver

Taurus Tracker is ok for what you're going to do. If you're big on .357, stay away from all those smaller guns you listed; M60, SP101, etc. you won't enjoy shooting .357 out of any of them. Stay with the Tracker (taurus), GP100 (Ruger), 686 (S&W). Be sure to rent, and shoot, whatever...

What's your favorite grip for a full-sized revolver and why?

I use Pachmayr Declerators when I shoot my .357s and Hogues when I shoot my .38s. My wood grips are for show, not for shooting.

Are the new Smith Classics better made?

IMHO; I would say that the new S&Ws are, along with Rugers, the best made revolvers in the world. Again, IMHO, I think that a new S&W is not nearly as good of a deal as a used S&W, even one 50 years old, which normally sell for half the price. The old ones lock up tighter than new ones made...

    I have a SP101 3" & 1894c lever. What's my next revolver? Thinking GP100 4"

I agree with what he said; the 4" won't give you much over the 3". I have 2", 3", 4" and 6" revolvers. The 3" and 4" are very comparable. The 6" gives (me) a lot more range - but is much bigger & heavier. The 2" fits in my pocket. If you don't have any .22s, I would give it some thought...

    are .32 good guns

Just buy and use whatever you feel comfortable with. That should settle the issue.:D

Poll: What percentage of you utilize an internal lock (or would if available)?

I've never used one and can't imagine that I ever would.

    I want to buy a S&W 442 or 642

The 649 mentioned by 'guns' is a steel gun. The 442 and 642 have alloy frames and steel cylinders and barrels. On the plus side - these are both available new without the internal locks (for CCW I would recommend getting one without the lock). The minus side is that there are several reports...

Which of these .357 Mags would you buy?

I do not see how that model 19-3 could be "new", especially at that price. S&W doesn't list the model 19 on their website. So if you can get a actual/factual brand new one at that price it would be steal.

    Ruger 22 mag. mini revolver?

Hey Kellmark; the 22 revolvers all have firmer triggers because it is necessary for the 22 rimfire round. That said, if you ever want to unload your short barrel 617, IM me!

question about NAA .22 LR mini revolver

GP; I had the EXACT same issue. So I sold mine. It was really neat, and I got almost all my investment out of it. I just didn't feel comfortable depending on it as a CCW. I practiced with it, but for the life of me I could not consistently hit a targe at 8-10 feet point-shooting it. I had...

    Wheel Gun Internal Locks Poll

I voted no. Before I ever considered it an issue I started buying pre-lock used S&W revolvers which I really like. (See SW forum for posts there). I now have 3. The older Smiths, IMHO, are just a better deal. You get a great gun for the price of a new Rossi or Taurus (which I also own or...

    taurus vs charter arms

I recently bought a Taurus 94 4". (As I posted on that forum) It had the following issues; 1. Cylinder lockup was inconsistent. 2. Shells were virtually impossible to extract - they expand slightly and stick in the cylinder. You have to use a cleaning rod to ram each one out. Even then you'll...

    S&W 686 --Which barrel?

I have a 6" 686. It is barrel-heavy. I got a great deal and didn't have your options. If I had the option I would have chosen the 4". In fact, I'm thinking of sending it back to S&W to have them put the 4" barrel on it. Don't get me wrong; the 6" 686 is a GREAT gun - I can hit a 4" pattern...

    Dumb Question

I am of the opinion that 180 gr is for hunting only. FWIW; I keep .38 +P in my HD/SD 686 because, if I had to shoot it at night without hearing protection it would definitely blind and deafen me.

    S&W 19-4 Value?

Hi, new to this forum! There is a 19-7 4" in flawless condition at my LGS for $599. That's high for me - but then I already have a 686. If I wanted a really nice one, that would be the going price.
