Another vote for the S&W 642. I pocket carry mine and I don't really notice it. Good, solid shooter. I also pocket carry a Beretta 21A in .25 from time to time. I am very impressed with this little pistol. Although the ammunition is one step above screaming for help ;) .

I've got the WWII looking Springfield 1911, I haven't had any problems with it and it's as accurate as my Hi-Power. The sights are small and hard to see, but I like the overall style of the pistol. I think it's illegal for you to buy a pistol at 19, you really need to check on this.

If you have a Belks department store near you get a pair of Guyz brand jeans. They have very deep pockets and the opening is cut at an angle. I can fit my Browning HP and it's holster in the front pocket of those jeans. It swallows my 642 perfectly.
