    Newly Purchased Knives

After a short wait, I finally got these two pieces. They are SOG 9.5" Jungle Primitive & Ka-bar 7" Full size w/ serrated edge. They both came with sheaths: one fabric (SOG) and Kydex-type (Ka-bar). Both feel well made and sturdy in hand. I already like them alot. Didn't have any big knives until...

This is true. Yes your completely right. I'm steadily enforcing situational awareness on her, I just want her to have more of a focus when a firearm comes into play. Here in NY there is a whole process for attaining said license and her own actual pistol. "Why not use mine?" ..you...

Open or concealed for work in NY/NYC?

Theoretically as per NY Administrative Code 10-133 d. (6)(a), a construction worker could have it to, from and during working.

You make some good points, some do not apply (5th FL in my case vs 1st FL in yours). Another poster refered to the "spare key" scenario. No spares with management or the Super for my apt. With the baby on the way, we have put off the training until after birth. She is eager to learn how to...

    Interviewed at the ATM

I have to agree with what many ppl have stated already: Avoid ATMs that are walk-ups. I personally alway utilize the ATMs inside of the bank. Less likely to be walked up on and also less likely to have your info compromised.

Open or concealed for work in NY/NYC?

I'm on that site as we speak. I never had to deal with anything major related to my knife or other gear, Thank God. I do however want to be more informed, know the laws and what I'm entitled to for my own sake.

Open or concealed for work in NY/NYC?

I agree. This profiling is why I question the legality. Despite being legal, it's not worth fighting it and wasting money and time. What's your point? I'm opting to put it in my jacket pocket concealed rather than exposed on my pants pocket. Nevertheless, You'd be surprise. Some NYPD...

Open or concealed for work in NY/NYC?

I have always liked knives (in addition to firearms) and have a few around the house and some pocket ones which I carry on a daily basis. Reading through the threads below in the Non-Firearm Weapons section specific to my locale, I am glad to now have a better understanding of what the laws are...

Agreed. Definitely not the neighborhood I'm in. It is an up-and-coming waterfront area but those problems are long gone from the area, for the most part. Our cars are safely kept in garage/off street, have not any issues. I find this to be a major problem in my book. No one has keys...

    Apartment Defense

This is somewhat comical but I will address your comments mainly because you do not know my locale: 1-2 bdrm APARTMENTS in my area are $150,000. To get a house- your looking at $350,000 and up. Some tiny houses or ones in need of work are 200,000-250,000. For a big house, your looking at an easy...

    Apartment Defense

Step one: Well understood. Then again I live and work in and around NYC.. well aware of the deranged. We get it all here. Step two: FAR easier said than done. My profession is in Architecture and is very closely affected by the Construction industry. Construction has slowed and in some...

    Apartment Defense

Duly noted. I will look into a shotgun as another defense firearm. I've already been wanting one anyway. This was a factor in me purchasing my place. We're only on 5th FL and only 4floors down to the rear of the bldg. Trust I am proactive with regards to fire safety and prevention in and...

Yes I feel as if I do have secure place. And your right, despite my owning my apt, I cannot do anything structurally.. just aesthetics. I have thought of a door alarm and with my child on the way, this will be a must. Despite the small benefit of the barking dog, my bldg is against pets. A...

    Apartment Defense

I have always been a very observant person. My dad always taught me and brother to pay attention to our surrounding. He instilled general thoughts of situational awareness which I hold onto everyday. My wife and I are on the cusp of a good neighborhood and a decent neighborhood; my building...

    Hornady Critical Defense

^I agree completely. I have 3 boxes of Hornady CD for HD. Test fired it with no problems. I too live in an apartment with neighbors surrounding me on both sides. I don't need to go through walls or anything.. The theory works for me and that's why I have em.

    Break-in Impression(92fs) & Overall thoughts

Thanks. Good advice I will add that to my range practice. Yeah I get what your saying about separating practice. I tend to do minimal dry firing while I'm drawing. I usually am drawing and reloading and repeat. I have hear the questionable remarks on ncstar lights. I picked it up at a...

Just went shooting for the first time! Now what to get?

I am a new shooter myself. About 4 months into this and I'm hooked too! You are lucky to be able to shoot all those at the same time. Here in lower NY it's much more restrictive. I started with a 9mm and manage to visit the range 1-2/month. Idk if i plan to get a 22 pistol, maybe a 22 rifle.. I...

    Break-in Impression(92fs) & Overall thoughts

First I'd like to say I have entered the firearm enthusiast club and absolutely love it. I have truly become engrossed in learning and checking out everything about firearms (mostly handguns.. for now haha). For those that don't know, my Beretta 92fs m9a1 is my first and only firearm to...

    Beretta Handguns

He did have a few extra things (this was a shooting competition).. but I couldn't tell you what model it was. IMHO for that $100-150 my Beretta is well worth that and some.. I dislike Glocks.. just my personal preference.
