    Firearms and the workplace?

It would seem that if your boss has given you orders not to carry in the company vehicle, you probably should not carry in the company vehicle. Your carry rights do not override company employment rules in most states. And they certainly can specify what is contraband for their own vehicles, I...

Apparently riot gun for wilderness survival = fail

Lilke GG&G said, the shotgun is a good choice. A few slugs for defensive purposes and big game, and the rest in birdshot will take care of most problems, assuming the user knows what he is doing. It seems this fellow did not know, form both the hunting and fishing perspective.

    Here's a touchy campus subject

Bull yourself. If you will take a moment to read the initial post you might note that it clearly states this is a no carry LAW. Those who violate the law cannot claim to be law-abiding. As for your policy violation issue, that goes with the honesty concept. If one wishes to dishonest and/or...

    Here's a touchy campus subject

It is interesting to see the number of "honest, law-abiding gun owners" that so quickly advocate breaking the law and the excuses they give for doing so. So, are you so afraid that it is worth becoming a known criminal? If so, you might want to consider another line of work. You might also...

    CDNN Always Sold Out?

It is a normala market dynamic. If you have a great price, peopel tend to buy the product. Thus, the product is depleted rapidly. I have had mixed results from CDNN. Sometimes they have had what I needed, sometimes they have not. The better the price the morelikely it is to sell out quickly.

    Most annoying Gun Myths

Not so much a myth with most of us, but an earlier post reminded me of an experience training native militia troops in Africa. When we took them to the range, the first thing they did when they went to the line was fix bayonets. When I asked why the local militia head seemed astonished thta an...

    Most annoying Gun Myths

Limited personal experience is a poor thing to use when discussing broad topics. Whether you were trained in that manner or not is somewhat irrelevant. Many recruits began their training in that manner. It is an old technique, pretty much done away with after WWII, but prior to that quite...

    Most annoying Gun Myths

It started with the military and the police. Many armies have used .22 rifles as trainers because, as others mentioned, it is much cheaper and the shooter can still get the basics of gunhandling and marksmanship. And many police departments used to start recruits out with .22 revolvers on the...

    Most annoying Gun Myths

I would think my most annoying myths are the ones that so many gun owners and shooters believe and spread themselves.: Only major caliber guns are good for self defense. Shooting somebody with a mousegun will only make them mad. Point shooting is useless. Chamber empty carry is as bad as...

I believe that is about the best summary of it.

    Liberty and Safety

Why? The government (through the courts) has always had that right, not just to protect you from terrorists but for virtually any other reason. The second poll statement is the more interesting to me, because it seems to assume that the first statement is somehow contradictory to the idea that...

'SuperDell" CCW Trial Started Today - Utah

I'm not sure that being confronted by angry and possibly threatening people is sufficient threshold to draw and brandish the handgun. As has been mentioned, the apparent threat was to damage property, never to injure the person. To me a busted tailight, even on a Jaguar, does not indicate a...

    CCW DISARM

If you have to wait until there is a good reason, it is often too late. The courts have repeatedly ruled that the safety of the community and the officer outweigh any minor inconvenience one might have due to temporary and short-term detentions and interventions. It is far too easy to go from...

(WP) "Schools Teach the Hard-Edged Lessons of Combat" (duplicate threads merged)

The arrogance to assume that he had considered thousands, perhaps millions of individual situations before making the statement blows my mind. Let me assure you, then, that I am right. Even you go on to say, "In a very few things, we do need a very small amount of regulation." I think that...

(WP) "Schools Teach the Hard-Edged Lessons of Combat" (duplicate threads merged)

I'm quite sure that there are other regulations that you could support, but that is my point. I think everyone wants some type of regulation, because without regulation we cannot have a functioning society. The real question is how much regulation, and perhaps who should be responsible for...

(WP) "Schools Teach the Hard-Edged Lessons of Combat" (duplicate threads merged)

No, it has to do with regulated versus unregulated behavior. Traffic is only one example of how a society need some regulations. There are many other examples. And yes, even firearms ownership and use should probably have some regulation. I know that offends some, but I prefer a functioning...

(WP) "Schools Teach the Hard-Edged Lessons of Combat" (duplicate threads merged)

Not to be argumentative, but some regulation is good for freedom. Imagine how your freedom of movement would be impaired without traffic regulations, or regulations governing who can get a license and drive. A society without regulations is probably unsustainable and unworkable.

How to keep water in your BOB?

Another alternative is water that is stored in the small mylar pouches and cartons, much like the juice that children drink. The containers are designed to take multiple freezings without damage, the water will last for a couple of years without worry, and the pouches can be stuck into many...

Self defense rifle for Urban Environment?

Don't neglect some of the non-auto military rifles. Yoeman duty has been done in the past by some bolt actions, and they are readily available today. A nice SMLE can be bought fairly cheap, and ammo is plentiful. Same with Mausers and the Russian guns.

    Meijers sends food, where's Walmart??

In addition to the $15 million, Wal Mart is also opening up a series of mini supply centers along the coast with nothing but water, fruit juice, canned food and other basic supplies that are free to the emergency workers to get for furhter distribution. 3 whole semi-trailers, hmm?
