Been doing real good with 208 hornady bthp or amax. H1000 loaded just under 2800fps. High BC does real well at 1000 yds. Set to .030 off the grooves. Rifle is a factory remington 700 sendaro 1 in 10 twist.
you dont mention the rifle you are using but 34.5gr of varget, 52 gr amax bullet federal 210m primer in my rem 700 with a 26in barrel 1 in 14 twist holds one hole group at 100yds. i did replace the trigger (shock with a rem) with a timney adjusted to 2 lbs and a nikon 3 x9 scope
I havent tried those powders but here is my recipe, 43 grains of IMR 4064 set to hornady book length using the 180gr BTSP from hornady. Its on the hot side so work up. My rifle is a savage model 12, all brass i use is either federal or winchester that i shot new and reload. Brass is trimmed...
That makes alot of sense why i have alot of issues in the beginning trying to find a load. The throat depth of my rifle is rather deep. I measured the FED GMM with the 190 SMK bullet and it had about .260 jump to the grooves causing them to group about 2.5 in at 100yds. The COAL with the 208...
I agree with presto, alot of trial and error to get a good load. While were on the subject has anyone tried the sierra mk 240gr HPBT with a 1 in 10 barrel? The box has the recommended twist at 1 in 9 keeping me from trying them.
i have tried imr 4350 and have had luck with lighter bullets at lower velocities. Nothing i really was looking for. I do load reloader 22, 74 gr with the same 180 gr hornady btsp. Holds about 1 to 1.25 groups at 100yds with the book recommeded seating depth so it fits in the magazine. That...
I have had problems with 4064 in the chargemaster, i will try the straw. When it overthrows the charge by one or two tenths that is about 3 to 4 granules of powder. Anyone ever measure how much 3 to 4 granules or lets say 2 tenths overcharge adds to the FPS? Loading 43 grains of 4064 in .308.
I have read somewhere about this problem before. Dont remember where but i believe that trying a different magazine or stiffer magazine spring may help. Are you using a 30 rd mag? May i suggest contacting sig? As i have learned sometimes guns can be very particular to certain bullets. What...
Those krieger barrels are nice. I agree that i may have reached the rifles potential. I am going to stretch it out to 1000yds with what i have but rebarreling is in my not so distant future. Thanks for the input.
I am looking for some assistance with a 300 win mag load. So far my rifle (rem 700 sendaro) only prefers lower velocity loads. Accuracy falls off after 2600 - 2700 fps with heavier bullets and 2700 -2800 fps with lighter bullets. I have tried IMR 4064, IMR4350, Reloader 22, and H1000. Best...
i have been able to recover bullets using gallon milk jugs filled with water. for a .308 we set up a 3 x 8 configuration of jugs on a flat surface we use a piece of plywood. 3 wide and 8 deep. make sure you are level with jugs. If it wasnt obvious aim for the middle jug.
Not sure if you are producing hunting rounds or plinking rounds in your .308but i have done alot of research and I prefer to use the hornady BTSP. They are cheaper and just as accurate. I have read reviews on almost every hunting bullet and i have noticed a trend with higher velocities and...
technology is great but i think everyone has learned from the music sharing. you can find alot of data on all powder manufacturers web site. i dont quite understand why bullet manufacturers charge for load data books but powder companys give it a way for free.
I just loaded up a spread from 35 to 37.7 of 4064. Going off book numbers from 3900 to 4200 fps will let everyone know what happens. Thanks again to everyone for your response. The next load will be with the 52 gr amax.
Do u notice a difference in the cci br primers in any caliber? so far for large rifle i have used fed 210m only. i do know the cci cost a few pennies more.
i appreciate all the input thanks!
4064 has been one of my favs for the .308, most accurate groups for me anyway. think i will start there. my first choice of bullet was the 52 gr bthp but my buddy wanted to try some too since we have the same gun and kinda pushed me towards the 40gr...
Everybody has a .308 load to share that works really well in their rifle that they worked up. i realize every rifle is different and loads dont work the same in every rifle. like the .308 the 22-250 has to have some powders that respond better than others. my .308 really likes 4064 for...
So i was in cabelas and they had some 22 250 components on sale and decided to start loading for that caliber. i had 4 powders on my shelf that should would work cfe 223, 4064, 3031, and varget. Rifle is a 700 sps varmint 1 in 14 twist 26in barrel. Bullet i purchased is nosler ballistic tip...
most of my cases fall with in 2.012 and 2.018. this is winchester brass 2nd time firing. there are a couple of long ones around 2.022 and only 1 around 2.025. were talking .010 over max, a hair is about .003 dia. so were talking about 3 hairs long?? i agree take the long ones out but the...
