Might as well do my own mini review of my Glock 19 gen 4, and Glock 23 gen 3.
They're squarish almost ugly guns. Right out of the box they're more accurate than most shooters will ever be, they're rugged and reliable to the point that I trust the lives of my family and myself with them implicitly.
I've gen 3 G23 (.40) for carry, and don't appreciate the need for a conversion kit to next up or down caliber. Lot of money for little difference.
Have a Browning Buckmark (.22 LR). Dirt cheap to shoot, great when cant afford the .40 ammo.
If I felt the need or urge, I could customize either...
Bought my Gen 3 G23 (.40 cal) last month. Extractor stamped 1882. About a thousand rounds through it so far, no problems. Don't know if this helps the discussion or not.
