Cabelas and Varget
I picked up 4 lbs of Varget yesterday at Cabelas in Hoffman Estates Il.. They keep it in the back room and you have to ask for it. They had 45 lbs last night right before closing so if you go there this morning I am sure you can get some. $27.99 each. ;)
I started 2 years ago with 9mm then 45acp. I use a Lee Pro 1000 and then got a Lee Loader ( hammer bammer) for some 38sp. I have since loaded some rounds for my Mosin with the Lee Loader also.
I use the Lee factory crimp die on 9mm and 45acp....mine does the little bump thing also and have no issues...many 100's of rounds crimped and HAPPY. Dont over-think it if it works well in your gun you are good to go : )
I too am reloading for my Mosin 91/30 1943.....I bought some Prvi Partizan ammo at Cabelas and shot it, I am using the brass from those factory rounds to reload...very easy.If you have any questions just ask....and I am using the Lee Loader to put them together...very easy and cheap method
I always use Winchester primer in all my loads ( 9mm, 45ACP, 38SP and 7.62x54R )
They seat well and always go bang. Winchester brass is the easiest to seat primers into also. S& B brass is very tight. Winchester is the preferred brass in my house.
I have a Pro 1000 that I use for 45 and 9mm...I gave up using the primer station and hand prime each piece using the Lee Auto prime hand gizmo....works great and allows me to inspect each piece of brass while priming.
