That is what has me really thinking about one too. Either I can get a decent bolt action for cheap, that I won't be afraid to scratch, or, I can toss a scope on my A2 carry handle and have an awkward cheek weld.

For an adult, recoil is not bad at all. They try to kick like an '06 with all the powder they have in the shell, but they come up short on the thump of a .30 cal. Let him try it at a range, shooting prone. If that is a little much, get a good recoil pad for it

How clear & in focus is that specific scope, at say 1,000 yards? I have read some really good things about them but it is hard to get a no b.s. assessment online when you can't look at one locally

Just how clear are they? NO ONE locally carries these, which is a shame because I really want to get my hand on the fixed 10x40. Leupold mount, got it (unless you can think of something better).
