Optics are perfectly fine. Just use what you would mount wise on any other rifle with a similar cheek weld and you are good. There is nothing special really in this area.
The only real issue is iron sighs. Unless you are cross eye dominant, then finding good sights can be a bit annoying...
I love it a lot. Very comfy and awesome with a scout scope. Very comfy, customizable, and shots nicely.
It also can be had a lot cheaper than 1.2k. I got mine for like 950 complete last year. See how much it will cost your LGS to order it for you.
~~~Sadly they are still stuck on Fudding it up with not using a loading gate.~~~
I take that back...
Apparently they did release these with a loading gate, just now MLOK yet.
Looks like a rebranded NcStar 2-7x32 Pistolero scope. Honestly I would go for the NcStar if you are looking for a cheap long eye relief scope. It is a known quantity and the only good thing that NcStar makes.
Not fond of tube loading as it can't be done quickly.
A loading gate allows for very quick loading via speed loader.
What I would really love to see are ones designed to take detachable box mags. Either sten style out of the side or extend the receiver a bit so the lever and mag length is not...
A lot of the 30rnd magazines will fit 30, but won't properly feed 30. My experience with these is if you load more than 27 in them the first three are likely to result in FTF.
I believe most of these were actually sold as 27rnd or something like that till recently.
The opposite here. I find scout scopes really help with that. On a like a medium height scope ring, my left eye lines up naturally with a scout scope on a 336 or a 1894.
I love scout scopes on lever actions. Actually don't think I've seen a rifle I've not liked them on.
I have used XS Sight mounts on both my 1894 and 336 and loved them on both.
If your looking at 7.62x51mm, then I would look at the Mossberg scout. Affordable and has had rave reviews. I liked its feel when I checked one out at the store recently.
Definitely would love to get one. Taking AR10 mags would be great.
I am curious as to how much work it would take to put a fixed sight on the front and a ghost ring on the back. Would be nice.
Personally I would love to see one of these with irons and a scout scope base.
Just looking at converting a Marlin 336 forearm from barrel band to forearm cap. Looking into this I found that mounts for both appear to be in the exact same place.
The difference between the two is the cap one has a tenon that slides into a dovetail in the barrel at that point. On the band...
On a related note, I've been pondering the idea of the gas eject lever action rifle. Similar to a semi-auto, but with a bolt catch that always engages and is disengages via the means of a short throw of a lever. Could easily me implemented as a AR upper.
