Hondo I do not have a chronograph yet(my next to do) lol. But yes they are a strong mag load for lead.I plan on using the 44 for pig hunting and the 357 is a taurus 669 with 6" barrel i bought new 20 years ago(at Wal mart lol) that i love to shoot.With that load i can nail a tennis ball at 50...

I really like 13.5 gr of 2400 with 158gr swc. Last trip to the range i just kinda popping off rounds with my 357 mag and was hitting a coke can at 75 feet every time with them. I worked up from 12gr and would recommend the same. Also 12 gr of aa#9 with the same bullet worked well for me. This...

Good idea i will load him a few so he can just get to shoot it and let him load them just 2 or 3 at a time to keep them from having push back in the tube.Thanks again he is like a kid at christmas lol :D .

ok thanks lots i will save these bullets for my 357 revolver.I will try some hard cast 158 gr RNFP. I just have to tell him he has to wait until Monday when i can get them :eek: . Thanks again !

My dad bought a Henry lever action rifle and i have some of those(158gr RN Plated) bullets.My question is can i load these in a 357 Mag case and what would be a good load? I have AA#5, Unique, 231, and 2400. Is there a good load that anyone has tried and will the longer barrel make a difference...
Yeh i have read about the trimming,this is my first venture into these rounds(ftx) so i am trying to get all my info right before i start!!! I know it does not take much for mag. loads to go wrong!

I am going to try my hand at loading some ftx 140 gr. for my 357 mag and the info i have found only gives #9(of the powder i have). I would like to use 2400 but there is no info for it :banghead:. The #9 i have is about 20 years old so my next question is how do i know if it is good?

Thanks for all the info guys! I got my Lyman #49 (they had the hard cover)this morning and the bullets i am getting are cast from the #429421 Keith SWC 245 grains mold (From Midatlantic bullets) so it all came together!! Thanks again guys!!!
