How a chopped $25.00 Mosin Nagant became one of my favorite rifles

Picked the MN up for 25 bucks and after converting it on the cheap to a scout rifle, it is now my favorite ATV and truck gun. How it came to be at link: http://hstrial-rchambers.homestead.com/early.html#

Anyone using this little Lanes 410 Hand Loader

Made along the lines of the old Lee Cassic whackem loader. For 30 bucks and with 410 SS being so high priced, think I will give the 3" version a try for the wife's Judge. http://lane371.dotster.com/410.html

Picked up my first Swiss K31 rifle

After considerable research, finally broke down, got one, and am very impressed with it. SN puts it at 1941 mfg. and has walnut stock with ID tag under butt plate. Top of tang stamped 53, which means it was rearsenaled in 1953 and stamp on barrel shank indicates it was rebarreled in that...

Hydraulically depriming Berdan Brass and US source of Berdan primers

Did a search and reloading Berdan primed brass has been addressed, but as this is a bit different, will throw it into the mix. I just ordered 480 rounds of Swiss 7.5x55 GP11 ammo and came across the following for reloading the excellent GP11 Berdan primed cases. The use of a reloading...

    For my K31, I just ordered 480 rounds of 1979 Swiss 7.5x55 GP11 for $242.00

SG, $252.00 for BC members ($265.00 non-members) for 480 rounds of 1979 7.5x55 Swiss (GP11) is a decent price. Spotted this on SG and jumped on it, had $10.00 coupon which further dropped price to $242.00. I really like the GP11, noncorrosive and like match ammo, the Swis knew how to do it...

Had a tour of the Sturm Ruger pistol plant in Prescott, AZ

Wife’s younger brother is the chief manufacturing engineer at the Sturm Ruger pistol plant in Prescott, AZ. He treated us to a tour of the plant, and I was most impressed. He explained each step of the production process, the speed of the fully automated CNC tooling, which makes the pistol’s...

Wife bought two Finnish 1968 no name M39 rifles, one was quite a surprise.

Wife bought them as a pair from LGS, they are like new, unissued and were coated with cosmo. When disassembling, one was normal with usual action shims etc., but the other was a stunner. The action was epoxy bedded and pillars were installed for both screws, forward from action, the barrel...

I presented this to the NRA for consideration

A way to counter the emotional onslaught from the anti gun crowd Every time there is another screaming headline about mass murders, the gun control powers that be, can whip the public into a frenzy. What does the pro gun ownership side counter with, logic, numbers and facts, which in the...

Neck sized once fired brass would not chamber in same rifle.

My neighbor has 700 Remington in .270. He hand loaded some 130 grainers using the Lee Classic whackem neck sizer loader, but he could not chamber the reloads. Brass is once fired Remington, which was originally chambered and shot only in his 700 with no problems. COL is 3.200”, I miked...

Governor Brewer attends dedication and opening of Tri State Shooting Park

Yesterday was a good day here in this part of Arizona, it took a long time and much work remains to be done, but the range is now open. Family membership is only $25.00 per year, it is great to live in a state which is willing to expend the work and funds to further encourage the shooting...

7.62x54 Russian milsurp rifle ammo, bullets are.308" diameter

I ordered 600 rounds of the Russian post WW2 (1946-1953) milsurp ammo in 5 round stripper clips for 150 bucks +shipping. (I have since found other vendors selling it cheaper yet) With the current price of the stripper clips, was almost like buying the clips and getting the ammo for free. The...

Complete easily portable shooting range kit

As we often shoot at different locations here in the desert, have been looking at making up a portable shooting range kit which can be set up or taken down in a couple of minutes. The target holder is simply two aluminum rods easily driven into ground, (could be wood/metal stakes of choice)...

Univision Network to air hard hitting Fast and furious special 09/30/12 at 7pm ET

    Any slingers here?

I have played with them since a kid (now 73 years young) and got adequately accurate. The great thing about a sling is if you wear lace up foot gear, the sling is always with you. Cut off shoe tongue to size, use laces, select some rocks, and good to go with a powerful weapon.

Large pistol primers for reloading paper and plastic shotgun hulls

I have been thinking of buying a .410 shotshell reloading press. Lee no longer makes a reloader for the .410 (and Lee confirmed in an email today they have no intentions of doing so) so the next choice was a MEC JR. But the 170-190 dollar price was a bit of a put off. I spent some time...

I bought this sight as backup for scout scope, then a strange thing happened

This 30 dollar graduated and fully adjustable aperture sight has proved out so well for quickly and accurately getting on target, and hitting it. The scout scope has now become a backup for the aperture sight.
