    Michigan shooting, attacker induces malfunction

Did anyone else notice that the perp has what looks like a collapsible baton or metal rod in his left hand and that’s what struck the pistol? She should have lit him up much earlier but that’s probably not politically correct in these more enlightened times. SMH

    9mm HP vs 223 FMJ

I’d take a 5.56 x 45mm 14.5”or 16” barrel carbine with 55 grn M193 FMJ over ANY pistol caliber weapon regardless of being able to use HPs in the PCC all day, everyday. Sure it is loud but is immeasurably much more effective. The 5.56 M16/ M4 has been used in CQB from Hue to Fallujah to Outpost...

Finally got my Shotgun next steps?

Check with the range as it depends. Here, I’ve found only one range that allows buckshot. The indoor ranges are slug only. The outdoor ranges only allow birdshot when shooting skeet, trap or clays and slugs only on the rifle range. I’ve found one outdoor range where you can rent a bay and shoot...

Help Switching To Another SD Round

If you must have 115 grain rounds, go with the Speer Gold Dots or the Federal 9BPLE +P+. The 9BPLE +P+ is an older design but pushed at a very high velocity. It has a fearsome reputation for putting the hurt on bad guys.

    Greg Cote LLC? Any good?

This Sunday I ordered 2 Mec-Gar 15 round magazines for my Sig P229 9mm. I got them today. This is the first time doing business with Greg Cote and it won’t be the last. Great prices and fast shipping, what’s not to love?

    Shotgun vs. Rifle for CQB

I guess it depends on what you mean by CQB. If I’m going to be in combat in a military or paramilitary sense in and outside of structures, then I’ll use a self loading rifle with an optic without hesitation. I have a rifle set up and ready but this scenario occurring is pretty remote. A much...

Cheaper Than Dirt, notorious price gougers from way back, are at it again.

    High Standard shotguns

I would jump at the chance to get one. They have very smooth actions.

Mossberg 590A1 Retrograde - Old Guy House Broom?

I like it. I would much prefer it with just a bead front sight though. I really like the looks of riot guns with wood furniture. I have a Remington 870 Police Magnum 6+1 with walnut furniture on order and can’t wait for it to come in. I’m an 870 guy as I’ve had one since the early 70s and...

    Good defensive ammo for non-shooters?

I would get them some Remington .38 Special 158 grain Lead Semi-wadcutter Hollowpoint +P rounds. I've found the old FBI load very controllable out of a 4" Model 19 and much more effective than those target wadcutters.

    Cheap surplus in near future?

They did about 25 years ago. There were "Russian Capture" Mauser 98s for sale all over the place. You must be a youngster not to remember that.

16" Naval Gun; Two 16-Shot Groups. Accurate?

Wrong... The aircraft carrier is what made the battleship obsolete. While a battleship could destroy anything within the 20-something mile range of its main guns, the planes from a carrier could do the same from hundreds of miles away. The fate of the British battleships Prince of Wales and...

What would you do different--tactics in a home invasion video?

I think she did very well. She stayed hidden until they started heading into the part of the house she was in. When she engaged them she took the initiative from them and used speed and violence of action to "keep up the skeer" on them as Nathan Bedford Forrest would have said. I think that "ole...

    Looking to Move

Texas is no good for you if you are looking for free land on which to hunt and shoot. Texas has virtually no public land open to the public. Except for a few relatively small National Forests near the Houston area, you will have to pay to hunt in Texas. Hunting leases in Texas are for the most...

Aside from the AR or AK, what is your favorite home defense carbine

No AK or AR? A Lee-Enfield No. 5 "Jungle Carbine" or Winchester Model 94 30/30 are the only two other carbines I have. Of the two, I'd go with the Lee-Enfield as the bolt is super smooth and faster than the Winchester's lever.

    Good/Classic Books

A couple I really like are: "Use Enough Gun" by Robert Ruark. In fact anything by Ruark is worth reading "Hunter" by John A Hunter. John Hunter was a professional hunter in East Africa in the early part of the 20th Century and wrote this autobiography. I read this book as a boy and I think it's...

    Autodefensa in Mexico

In Latin America its called "Plata o Plomo", Silver or Lead. You accept their offer to work for them and you get paid. Refuse and you get the lead. I have relatives in Mexico and most all the men carry pistols going by "big boy rules".

What Is Your Favorite Pre-Metallic Cartridge Firearm

For a rifle, I'll go with a Kentucky long rifle or an 1853 Enfield 3-band rifled musket. For a handgun I'd take a Colt 1861 Navy.
