    Portable shooting benches?

Thanks, dmazur, That's the style I was curious about, and I'm glad to hear it's stable. That one's now made by one of Midway USA's companies. It is much less expensive than it used to be, but now I wonder about its quality.

    Portable shooting benches?

I'm interested in building or eventually buying a portable shooting bench. In particular, I'd like to know of experiences with the swiveling tripod-type benches made by DOA Tactical, Coyote Jakes, and The Big Shooter. How sturdy, how steady, and what weight capacity? Is there slop at the...

    Range/Gun bag recommendations

As noted above, Midway's got a bag and it's currently on sale for $40. I don't have one, but 165/169 reviewers give it five stars. I've got a couple of Allen bags that I bought at Wal-Mart for $20 apiece. They're regularly used and heavily loaded, and I've not had any problems.

    Mossberg vs. Remington

My 500 was a rattletrap, and not nearly as easy to disassemble for cleaning. My 870s, whether Wingmaster or Express, were vastly preferred, in all respects.

B&C medalist of Choate UV for .308?

Today I received a Medalist for my Model 70. It is perfect in fit and finish. There was nothing wrong with the factory's plastic stock, but this is much nicer. I'm very, very pleased. I ordered mine from Stocky's, and just emailed the owner a note of appreciation. B&C's website didn't...

Want a high cap 9mm that will shoot reloads

How about an M&P or XD? I've got and enjoy shooting both of these guns, and they, like the Glock, are polymer framed. If you might prefer a steel framed alternative, the Hi-Power (with a normal capacity of only 13) and CZ 75 are both good choices. I've shot lots and lots of lead - almost...

Heads Up: S&W Deals at CDNN

Machinisttx, nice job, it now looks much better. I ordered a Model 66-2 yesterday. It's graded 'very good,' which I hope is a lot nicer condition than how yours arrived.

Heads Up: S&W Deals at CDNN

How did CDNN grade your revolver? Certainly it was not 'very good,' I hope. Would like to see some after pictures, if you've got any to post.

    Reloading

I agree that a reloading manual is a good place to start. I find them enjoyable to read and that I continue, almost 20 years later, to learn. I have more than a dozen, with the Speer and Sierra manuals being my favorite. Both have very good powder selections. Although many people prefer the...

    I need a good scope

I recommend that you check opticstalk.com. As the name states, the forum's focus is optics and I think that you will find lots of particularly relevant and helpful information. Personally, in addition to a Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8, I have a Burris Signature Select 3-10x40 and a Bushnell...

Youth Rifle for 7 year old ???????

I have a new Model Seven CDL in .260. It's fantastic, and I've killed two does with it this season. If the gun itself isn't too large for your son, one consideration is the recoil pad. The CDL, unlike some of the other Sevens, comes with Remington's R3 pad. The recoil feels virtually...

Which lever .22LR? Marlin or Henry?

Between those two, I'd pick the Marlin. I imagine that the Henry will probably last a very long time. However, considering pride of ownership, I think that the Marlin is much more an heirloom gun. My favorite though, is the Winchester 9422. It is a beautiful walnut and polished steel gun...

    RCBS customer service

A big thanks to RCBS. . . . A few weeks ago I broke a depriming pin while depriming a Berdan-primed brass case. I called RCBS, told them what happened, and asked how to get replacement depriming pins. The customer service representative asked me what caliber, and then sent several pins along...

    Stoeger 2000 or Franchi I-12?

I have a Stoeger 2000 and a Franchi AL-48. Both are nice guns. Certainly, Franchis, and Benellis in particular, have a certain panache and pride of ownership that doesn't come with the Stoeger. I can say though, that I bought the Stoeger because I couldn't tell any difference in the fit and...

    Reloading Glock brass okay?

Actually, if you see some of the brass that I've reloaded over the years, you'd be surprised that I posted the question. However, I've never loaded for .40 (although I'm sure a lot of the 9mm stuff I've reloaded has been shot through Glocks), and I've seen several posts regarding Glocks blowing...

    Reloading Glock brass okay?

I have been reading about cases bulging after being shot in Glocks. Is Glock-fired .40 okay to reload? Any problems or issues that need be addressed? Thanks.
