    Mid-western shooting schools

I'll second TDI (Tactical Defense Institute) in southern Ohio. My wife and I first attended TDI when we lived in Indiana. Since we moved to Arizona, we have returned to TDI several times. They have all the classes you are looking for and more. Instuctors are freindly and helpful. You'll...

    Lee Auto Disk Powder Measure

I never used the auto disks that came with my Lee loader because I couldn't get the charge I wanted with them. I bought the adjustable charge bar. It works great for me. However, the lowest I have ever loaded a round was 4.8 grains. It has worked well with HP38, W231 and AA #5.

    Method for releasing a slide...

Pull back and release. Pulling the slide back will give you more force to drive the bullet into the chamber. I know it's not normally a factor, but who knows when you are going to get a round that does not go into battery?

    Tumbling loaded rounds?

I throw all my finished rounds in my CV-500 for about an hour. Gets rid of any lube left on the case or bullet. Occasionally some bullets have a little flash at the parting line, tumbling smooths this out.

    Heads up Hoosiers!

When I lived in Indiana, I got my first CCW at the county fair. They required no training to obtain the CCW either. Pay your fee and a week or so later it arrived in the mail. It's a shame you always will have people trying to mess up a good thing. One thing I didn't like about...

FedEx Ammo Delivery - 9/20 boxes arrived... grrrrrr...

Sure looks like someone helped themselves. That is the kind of incident that makes you wonder if it is worth it to order some things online.

    the .45ACP for home-defence

I wouldn't worry too much about the noise. It's not like you are going to be firing your pistol in your house everyday.

    Switch carry ammo in cold?

No need to worry about extra layers during the cold months as long as you follow-up your body shots with one to the head.

    Please recommend a knife class

Tactical Defense Institute in Ohio offers very good classes in pistols, rifles and knives. My wife and I have attended several of their classes and always look forward to returning. http://www.tdi-ohio.com

    Portable Reloading Bench

I don't remember the price exactly, but I believe it was around $50. It's one of those that the table top is split in half so you can clamp stuff to it. You do need to add a little more support to the top of it.

    When reloading: stand or sit?

I always stand. Just wouldn't seem right to sit while reloading. I guess if I put the press a foot or two off the floor I might be able to sit. Standing works for me and keeps me focused on what I am doing.
