I am pretty much a n00b when it comes to SAA revolvers, but have handled a number of the originals as well as Italian copies. Some of the Uberti's...Cimmarons etc. are pretty nice in their own right, as well as a heck of a deal.
I ran across one I had never heard of a couple of weeks ago...
Nothing gives me the warm fuzzies like a Smith & Wesson revolver...love my N frames (others too:-) However my go to carry is either a Commander sized Para 1911 or a Sig 229R in .357 Sig that has the DAK trigger. This gun was a police trade in that I bought at a price I just could not refuse. My...
I beg to differ. Mustard seeds are tiny.
My money says these are persimmon seeds that have been processed by a coon.
I have 5 persimmon trees within 100 yards of my back door....and have killed 9 coons so far this year.
To me it is just not that much trouble to change calibers. I think if you let the capabilities of the machine force you to plan your work, the process will go much smoother. You will find yourself loading different calibers that can use the same powder, primers etc. and only change the machine...
I have been asking myself the same question as the OP & am really glad to have found this thread. I have used a RockChucker for decades and will keep it for rifle calibers with the possible exception of .223
Although I like the looks of the Hornady, I have been leaning towards the 550...and...
My SRH was going to be my deer hunting firearm this year. I took two with my SBH last year using the factory irons & just wanted to try something different. You know how it is:-) At any rate, I did OK with the irons on the SRH, but decided to mount a red dot for grins. The red dot was certainly...
Another vote for the Marlin 1895 in 45/70...I don't know if it is the weight of the gun...stock design or what, but full power loads under a 405 gr. bullet are not exactly pleasant.
I have never tried a powder from Accurate that I wasn't happy with. AA7 is probably the top choice for 10 mm loads. Numbers 5 & 7 work with a wide variety of pistol calibers & AA9 is my powder of choice for top end 44 magnum loads. I would use more of them if they were available.
Why yes, as a matter of fact I have...twice. Not counting of course the ones I gave myself:D
The first one was about 1983 and was BM (Before Marriage)...smart girl! Christmas morning found a Ruger 77 in .270 Winchester under my tree. Topped it with a Leupold 3X9 and have had a lot of success...
Thank you both for your responses. Of the two cans I have, one was bought new by me several years ago...probably early '90's. No yellow flakes in it. I have used this powder for reduced loads with cast bullets in .243...worked well.
The second can I bought a couple of months ago...it was...
Like an earlier poster, mine is probably a K-22 Masterpiece manufactured in 1948...made some amazing shots with that one. However I have to say that my two Ruger MkII bull barrel guns will shoot with anything I've ever picked up.
Need to place an order soon for some more of their fine bullets. Getting a Dillon 550B next week so I hope to be running through a lot more ammo soon.
I'd appreciate it if someone would PM me the code. TIA.........John
My experience exactly, (well, except for the part about metering like Bullseye:-) One of the most accurate loads I've ever developed for .357 Magnum used a max charge of 4227 under a 158 gr. JSP. It did have a little flash though:D
Quick question if you don't mind. Does your 700X have yellow flakes mixed in it? In the manner that Red Dot, Blue Dot etc. have colored flakes mixed in with them? Asking because I have two cans of 700X & one has the colored flakes and one does not.
I have an old keg of Alcan AL-7 that I am...
I am a Ruger fan, but have no personal experience with the SR9...that said, I sure do like my CZ-75 Compact.
The only striker fired gun I own is my Glock...and while it is functional, I will not claim to like it.
For those of you who may be new to the game...read this man's post carefully. Pay attention....there is a lot of knowledge and good advice here.
Years ago I started doing something that I found to be very helpful in learning to track a wounded animal. Get as clear in your mind as you can as to...
Flintknapper....Thanks for taking the time to dig around and find those bullets. It is always interesting (to me at least) to see how a bullet performs on game. I've recovered a few, but never from the 45/70. Good job. Now get back to those piggies:-)
I have used and abused a pair of 8X Steiners for going on 30 years. Good glass and still going strong. $225 for them back in the day. No such thing as good cheap glass.
