I bought a 6.5" 629 back in the mid 1990s and decided I wanted a 4" barrel. After considering the options (rebarreling, trading for a 4", or cutting the existing barrel), I opted to send the revolver to SDM Fabricating to have him cut the barrel down to 4".
I love it. The work is top notch...
I can't comment on the .45 version, but I have a Crevna Zastava CZ99 that I bought new in the early 1990s. It has been pretty unreliable compared to any other service pistol I've owned.
Due to it's spotty reliability and utter lack of parts, I wouldn't buy another.
