I had one and it worked great. I got rid of it because it was heavy and slow to point for me. Easy to use, easy to clean, it just did not fit me. Make sure you get to try one before you buy one. That would have saved me the trouble.

I have my Dad's Remington 11, made in the 1950s. It is lighter than a 12, but is fullfull choke and not OK for steel shot so I have to shoot it for upland. It is so tight that a pheasant at 25 yds centered is "poof". Not a good gun for a beginner as not much margin for error with that choke...

I have shot a montefeltro for the last 10 duck seasons and could not be happier. Easy on my shoulder, easy to clean, light. No problems at all.

I had one break years ago and I replaced it with a piece of toothbrush handle that I cut down sanded and drilled a hole thru. It was bright yellow and served as a good reminder.

my choice would be 26 inch imp cyl choke. todays shells seem to pattern tighter and as long as you pattern it you should be able to find something that works. i miss more because of too much choke than too little. pt

Even the Montefeltro 12 guage is not a heavy gun. I shoot 6-10 boxes of 3 inch duck loads thru it a year and the recoil is not a problem. Easy to clean too.

i think the point to be made is that we would like the shotgun to be more versital. so if the shotgun is my backup duck gun with a 22 inch barrel and optional chokes it could also be my home defense gun. i would like to have a definite reason to shoot my home defense gun in the field.
