I have a Bushmaster XM15 that I want to work up some loads for. I'm using Richard Lee's Modern Reloading, second edition. A couple of things I'm keeping in mind when choosing primers and powder are:
Slam firing
Cartridge powder volume (the fuller the better)
These are the primers and powder...
Well Dang it. I ordered and received the 223 Hornady Cartridge Gauge. Shame on me for not checking closer, but this gauge does not check for trim length.
As a new loader to 223, I've read several posts on the subject and thought I get your opinions.
A couple methods I read were:
Using Imperial Sizing Die Wax on a Q-Tip
Mixing graphite powder and lead shot for a dipping media
What do you think of these?
What are you guys doing?
It was recommended that after I clean OFB that I sort it.
Well, I've done that on half of a 500 lot and here's what I got.
WMA 50 pieces
FC 50 pieces
Winchester 50 pieces
Frontier 5.56 40 pieces
Hornady < 10
LC < 10...
OK then. Case Gage is what I'm looking for because I want to check case length and Headspace of resized cases.
Thanks
Now if I could only find someone who has them in stock :)
Some of you guys have recommended that I get a case length gage. Do you guys recommend any particular brand that may be available? Or will any do?
Thanks
Akula, thanks for the info. Can you explain why I need to sort the brass by headstamp? I don't understand how it makes any difference in the loading process. thanks
