    Nosler Partition issue

30-06... Thanks for the responses guys! Nice to see another CP alum on here too. The rifle used was a Winchester mod. 70, about 30 years old. Not mine, and I don't have a lot of details. The broadside shot may have hit some of the branches, but there were only a few thin ones. It looks...

    Nosler Partition issue

(Recently posted this on another site, but this one seemed more appropriate) On a recent hunting trip, we spotted a good buck, at under 40 yards. My friend took a shot with his 30-caliber loaded with handloaded Nosler Partitions. We saw the buck jump several feet high, and struggle to run off...

Gun Stores I have known....(Or, a "tribute to..")

I don't know exactly how it happened, but somehow I became 43 years old, didn't I just blink? I've been interested in guns and shooting for at least 37 years, according to my parents. I have been reloading now for 25 years, after teaching myself the basics in the dorms at college. My roommate...

"Event" today shooting my 10mm DE

Critter - thanks for the response, I tend to agree. I find myself shooting revolver more frequently these days! Striker Fired - yes Federal! I am unfamiliar with "older two piece", could you fill me in? Blue68f100 - I will check when I get home, as I recall, the curve of the bullet...

"Event" today shooting my 10mm DE

"Note that a .8 gr increase only produces 65 FPS more, in the data" Yes, that is an interesting attribute of that component combination... I was using data that indicated a Max. of 6.9gr. (don't have it in front of me, can't tell you the source off the top of my head) and I was looking for...

"Event" today shooting my 10mm DE

I was shooting me Delta Elite today for the first time in several years today, when I experienced and "event", I thought I'd get some input on. The loads were from yesterday, and were WIN 180gr TC bullets, on top of 6.4 gr. N340, with a WLP primer in mixed brass obtained online years ago...

    .308 Powders

Hodgdon sold "trial pack" with smaller quantities of four powders...Not sure if they wer 1/4 pound.. Remember, a pound only makes about 150 rounds. Slamfire has all the right info. To add, Varget is claimed by some to be TOO SLOW...with all the other options out there, why risk it? I mean...

    "The Gunsight"

If anyone lives in the the Southern California area (Orange County), you might want to know that one of the last "old gunshops" is closing. It is a sad day. George DiLeo, owner of The Gunsight is retiring, and closing his doors after 30-some years. I suspect health reasons. He was always...

    Devine Message NOT to Reload?

Ahh.... Memories! ID_Shooting- Reading your post took me back a few years, 17 to be exact! When I started reloading, I was on an unemployed college student's budget. Couldn't afford much! I started off with 223/5.56mm, not '06 though. I had all the exact problems you did! It was erie! Do you...

Where's the best deal on #4895?

4895. GIBrass.com had some IMR4895 for $100 if memory serves me. If you buy a certain amount, he pays the hazmat. I don't recal if it is 4 or 6 jugs. I went in with 3 guys and bought 6 jugs of assorted powder that way. You might check out his website...

I tried some of that cheap WC860 $36/8# powder

Hmmmm.. I was going to buy some of that powder....but not for a Garand. I was thinking it might be a MUCH less expensive way to feed my .416 Rigby (Ruger). As stated elsewhere, the WC846 is better suited for the gas-rifles. I prefer one of the 4895's for my Garand's though. Calpoly
