Back in the day my dad and grandfather would go out in the woods without a 2500HD and camo and scent and trail cameras and... Yet with just a lever action and a shotgun managed to bag deer, hog...etc Today's hunting seems almost as bad as shooting fish in a barrel.

I will say this...if I need a gun to defend myself, I know my 1911 or my Glock 19 will deliver the round on time and on target. I've had no problem with either.

I have a Metro Arms American Classic II that I purchased from Academy for $449 and it is well built and shoots straight. No FTF or FTE...nice shooter.
