You have not defined "quality", so you should not expect consensus.

Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Delivery Time...

If the CA version has the same trigger req as the MA version, I've shot the 40. Definitely not as nice as the standard trigger.

    Night sights for G20SF?

I had Trijicon Bright & Tough night sights installed on my 30SF at the LGS for $100. It took about 20 minutes.

    Sig Sauer Reviews C&C

My father has a 220 that he likes. I haven't warmed up to it yet, but it is hard to argue with the sig reputation. If you could find a 239 in your price range, I would consider that to be a great deal.

    need advice!

I owned a 5906 and currently on a G26 - hard to compare the S&W DA/SA in an aluminum frame to the Glock. It really comes down, IMO, to your preference on the platform, trigger, grip angle, etc, and whether you can tolerate the additional weight of the S&W. The S&W and the glocks that I've owned...

    No bang with S&B ammo

I had a case of S&B 9mm ammo that gave my old Taurus PT-111 problems. I found that 2-3 rounds out of every box ould not fire on the first trigger pull; they would almost all fire on the second. I sold the Taurus and bought a Glock 26 and had no problems on the remainder of the case.

Anyone use the shield 9mm barrel in the 40

Why would you want to do this (not meant to inflame)? Just for the flexibility in case you can only get one caliber of ammo? I'd be interested to know if there are any feeding problems with using the 40 magazine with 9mm. The last thing I need are identical fitting magazines that are caliber...

    opinions on small 9mm pistols?

I have a j-frame and I agree it is a pocket carry (probably the largest I would consider). I have a shield and it is about the same size, but it is not good for pocket carry due to the shape which makes it hard to draw.

    CCW Action and Trigger Pull

You are probably correct. I would be more concerned about civil action where it is about perception of negligence rather than self defense.

    CCW Action and Trigger Pull

My concerns are simply around how trial lawyers present the facts of the case surrounding a shooting, whether it is justified or not. SA trigger pull is lighter and could raise questions of negligence, especially in a civil case. Whereas if a DAO S&W snubbie goes off, there is little question...

    opinions on small 9mm pistols?

Yeah - "pocket carry" to me is kind of vague. I will carry my G26 in a jacket pocket in a pocket holster. But I don't consider it a pocket pistol. If I can easily carry it in the front pocket of typical dress pants, I consider it a pocket pistol.

    .223 ammo

I traded in my AR when the NY SAFE act was passed. I sold 400 rounds of lake city 5.56 to the gun shop for $200, so $500/case seems like a steal. I bought 1000 rounds from ammoman for $199 during the Bush years - the good old days.

    CCW Action and Trigger Pull

Personally I would avoid SA for legal reasons if ever actually involved in a shooting. I prefer striker fired but would have no problem with a good DA/SA. I don't care for DAO except in snubbie - don't enjoy practicing with DAO semiautos. But in the end, whatever you practice with the most and...

talk to me about the different 'gens' of glocks

I chose gen 3 because it seems to be a proven design (and at the time, there were prblems reported with the gen 4). I do not know if the gen 4 versions have more support in the chamber. Most reports I have read suggest that less support in the chamber to improve feed reliability, along with the...

+1 to everything said. The Gen 4's also come ith 3 mags instead of 2.

    Pt 111 g2

I bought an first gen Pt-111 and found that I had a number of fail-to-fire with S&B ammo. Feel and balance was good but I could never feel like I would bet my life on it. I have glock 26 now - for a few $$ more, I have 100% reliability. YMMV.

    9mm in this market

    (edit: refering to post #20) That's the 5906 I mentioned in post #8. A great 9mm, though I only paid $350 in 1991 ;)

    9mm in this market

Glock 17/19/26 depending on the size that you want in addition to the ones mentioned above. I had a S&W 5906 years ago - great DA/SA option if you can find one.

    30-06 scope POLL

The Nikon Buckmaster can be had for $200. I haven't used the Prostaff, but I believe the Buckmaster is clearer and better in lower light.
