I've had an SP 101 since they first came in the 8 shot version. I loved that gun for making holes in paper at the range. Then fate brought me to a Smith & Wesson 17-4 Modified with a Heavy Target Barrel, Bo-Mar Rib & Winged front sight. I don't know who did the modifications but I do know that...
I just got back from Costco North Phoenix, AZ. Went with a friend. I mentioned on the way there that they wouldn't welcome me but he assured me those signs are gone. Don't know when they removed them but he was right. "Firearms prohibited on the premises" signs are gone.
Maybe it's just Arizona...
I have a 17-4 that an earlier owner installed a 6 inch "bull" barrel and a Bo-Mar rib and sights. Muzzle heavy and harder to hold steady does not begin to describe it. From a rest it is wonderful but I shoot my Ruger SP101-22 with a 4.2" barrel better most days.

The only 1911 I have is a Ruger. so I can't compare but I've shot thousands of rounds of mixed ammunition without any issues. More accurate than I am............ and very well made right here in Arizona.

:)
Not saying this is the case but, it reminds me of the experience my buddy had with his new Ruger Single 10 a few weeks ago. He picked it up on Friday and asked me to meet him at the range the next morning. I looked it over and was impressed with the fit & finish. I really liked that gun and...
My Belgum BLR in 243 handles all factory loads just fine but for reloads I have to use a small base sizer. The loads I built for my bolt guns will not chamber.
