Z-Medica introduces OTC version of Quickclot

Certified trauma nurse here - We don't use it in the hospital, but we can deliver 15 - 25 units of blood while a surgeon finds and stops the bleeding. It is an excellent product and I have been following it's use for several years. As a paramedic noted above, the only thing you have in the...

TN house panel votes to let us carry in govt buildings!

This shouldn't be citizens against LEO's - I trust anyone who has been "permitted", whether they are LEO or private citizen. I don't trust those who think they know who should be "allowed" to have a weapon. This bill is a step towards what should be - weapons carry by State citizens...

Has anyone tried to derail a buy-back?

In Tennessee, my friends and I have "worked the line" when municipalities began buy back programs. Believe it or not, there were Lever guns, old WWII .45's and lots of junk. We quietly worked the rear and sides of the line, offering people $50 so they wouldn't "have to wait in line". We...

    Glock 21 vs. 21SF

I have big hands but short fingers, so I will probably add the new 21SF to my stable. Yes, the difference is subtle, but I could tell it the instant I picked up the weapon. In fairness, all the Glocks have too much "palm swell" on the grip for my taste, but I love Glocks! The 21sf reduces the...

Are you a single issue(RKBA) voter?

If they don't trust me with guns, I don't trust them at all! So, I ONLY vote for pro gun candidates. :)

So You've Decided You Want A Saiga

Took her to the range today - Limited recoil, surprising accuracy and FAST handling ( 16" barrel ). So far I'm limited to the one mag that came with the gun, but no stoppages and no feeeding problems. I fired Remington .223, Black Hills and Wolf ammo. The gun digested anything I threw at it...

So You've Decided You Want A Saiga

wasz - I bought it and brought it home. Good balance, excellent price. You get a 10 round magazine an oiler and a self-contained cleaning kit. I love the way it handles. Did not get to shoot it yet! Looking on the net for magazines, they are pricey but readily available. As someone else...

So You've Decided You Want A Saiga

I can't answer your questions yet, but I am going to pick up a Saiga .223 today. Hopefully, I can tell you more later. :)

    Paddle holsters

Inside. There is a lip that holds it in place as you draw I have been very satisfied with a Fobus paddle ( I carry my Glock 21 daily ). I have been less impressed with a Houston paddle I bought for a smaller pistol. The paddle "lip" does not always keep the holster in place when I draw. :)

    Were the Weavers victims?

An ATF stooge conned him into sawing off a shotgun for a large sum of money - they wanted to "turn him" so they could go after some weird white supremicists. In other words, the Government convinced him to commit a crime so they could get at someone else. Every LEO I have discussed this case...

Do you expect a new AWB?

Yes - at the very minimum. Look for new restrictions on the number of weapons you can purchase, as well the types. The ban on magazines will be back first, I predict. Most importantly, look for EPA restrictions on lead bullets and increased ATF restrictions on all firearms. Worst, look for...

Why are Mini 14's so inaccurate?

Gas block - poor tolerances is the short answer to your query. The newest Mini's have a very definite improvement in gas block shaping and fitting. The accuracy is VASTLY improved. A good gunsmith can improve a Mini's accuracy dramatically as well. However, it is a ranch rifle and was never...

    Today's New York Times

The NY Times is essentially toilet paper. Wait, that won't work ! It's already full of .... well, you know. If it's in the Times, it can't possibly be true. Does anybody ( besides John Kerry ) still read that rag? If we ignore it, it WILL go away. :uhoh:

    12 vs. 20 gauge.

Your 20 ga set up sounds about perfect to me While I have 12, 16 and .410 shotguns, I have always found a 20 ga side by side is the gun I use most often to hunt birds. Much like you, I limit the ranges I shoot, and rarely use dogs. The only difference I have ever found between the 12 and 20...

    Your favorite TN gun shops?

Legends in Athens and Benton Shooter's are two really great stores. Both have knowledgeable employees and a HUGE selection of guns. I also have a soft place in my heart for a small mom & pop Gun store in Calhoun, TN called Fugate's Firearms. Carmen Fugate has a small inventory but can and...

Ever let someone borrow a firearm?

No, not ever. Don't loan guns out to anyone. If you're at the range when I am there, you are welcome to shoot my guns with me, but I will not loan them out. Besides insuring proper gun safety and diminishing my chances of loss, it is a great way to support the gun industry when my "friends"...

What is the most dead solid reliable pistol (autoloader) design ever?

Glock Owned and shot many handguns. Never had a 1911 style I could keep from jamming, no matter how much I paid or how many "slick" gunsmith tricks I had installed. First Glock I got in a trade and thought, briefly, I had gotten "beat" on the deal. 13 years later, that little model 17 has seen...

Should violent felons be allowed firearms?

Don't be so certain that all "violent felons" are guilty I worked a rape case several years ago that had the conviction overturned later by DNA evidence. The woman who made the accusation was really angry with her ex-husband and accused him of rape. Turned out her new boyfriend beat her up and...
