New to Me Ruger Speed Six

Yes, a 3" speed six is the holy grail. They were made for specific government contracts, issued to postal inspectors, and game wardens, perhaps others. Rumor has it that for every 10 2.75" models, there was one, 3". The 3" ones bring a premium price. I bought one on gun broker that was listed...

    10-7 $650?

In today's market, where I live. If the timing is good, and the barrel is nice. Around $600. So $650 is not outrageous. Prices have really gone high in the last year or two.

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

    I guessed 1960 using this table, but could be 1961. My eyes are going bad it is NOT a 36-1, the crane is stamped Mod 36 1950 = start at 1 1952 = 7369 - 21342 1953 = 28916 1955 = 55050 - 75000 1957 = 117770 - 125000 1962 = starts at 295000 1969 = ends at 786544

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

    a) 38 Spl b) 1.875 inches c) Round butt d) 5 shot e) Fixed f) 282xxx (No letters) g) Model 36 (edited) Flat latch. I think it may be from 1960, but have never had that confirmed. Bought it at an estate sale, was born in 1960, so maybe we are the same age. Carried a lot, shot very little, has...

Rock Island Armory VRF14 12 Gauge

Picked it up last Saturday. Feels nice in the hand, have a green laser and a 9 round mag on the way. I got it for 299, plus a 100 rebate too. Rebate only good for RiA accessories, but good enough.

Why does SC not honor Washington DC CCW

I am a SC resident. I believe (could be wrong), the state's Attorney General is the one that handles which state permits are honored. Before GA & SC, came to an agreement, I got a non-resident Utah permit, so I could carry in GA and AL. Used to do a lot of travel for work.

Retro Carry Guns & The Stigma Surrounding Them

It's still about shot placement. Here is a video about a Trooper killed in SC back in 1992. He was killed with a .22 (arm pit) . Perp was shot with a .357 several times and lived.

Promag. What has been your experience?

I only buy ProMags if no one else makes them anymore. The ones I have work okay, but no where as good as the OEM ones.

Charter Arms Undercover not stamped +P

Off topic: Springs! No one offers spring kits for the undercover. Wolff has them for the Bulldog, nothing else. Has anyone tried S&W J-frame springs in an undercover, primary concern is the hammer spring, looking to drop the DA from 16 pounds to something a little lighter.

Looking for a shoulder holster for a large frame revolver.

The only thing close to that price would be here: http://www.holsterama.com/vertical-leather-shoulder-holster/ Never bought one, so don't have an opinion of them.

In my neck of the woods, that would go for around $750.

Trying a Ruger LCR in .38 Special

I have the .38 "Navy" model, which means it's gray instead of all black. The trigger is much smoother than factory J frame triggers. Shooting 125grn +P is snappy, but not bad. I shoot 158 grn SWC and find them very manageable. A guy I know bought the .357 model LCR, and hated it, I thought he...

Great find, SS Speed Six, 2.75" Barrel

Hi folks, I chanced upon a used speed six at my local range, it is engraved on one side. Any idea why someone would engrage one side? It has a surprisingly great DA trigger. At first I thought someone might have done some action work on it. But reading about the speed six on line, seems they all...

Selling ammo on Armlist. Buyer wants all listed.

I have bought a lot of ammo on Armslist in the past, I would often offer to buy all, in hopes of negotiating a better per box price, which I often got, maybe $1 per box savings.

Why do guys buy a 357 mag, and shoot only 38 caliber in it

Until you buy and shoot a S&W L frame or larger, .357 is not much fun to shoot. Once you shoot a firearm truly designed to handle the magnum load. Then you shoot the magnum load all the time. K frames handle the magnums, but L and N frames own them.
