Want to give duck a try this year

Well I thought I had made a successful post but it doesn't appear that way. I was curious if that Wingmaster you are borrowing can shoot non-lead shot safely.

    Dove hunting Arizona

Haven't bagged a white-wing yet, only mourning doves. Maybe they'll be around for the late hunt.

    Dove hunting Arizona

Bagged five this evening. The birds are flying fast and low. I'll bet I let two limits go by while looking in the other direction and about ten more that got into the creosotes before I could shoot. Large leads at 30 yards were the name of the game. I did manage to pull down doubles on two...

    Defensive Ammunition 101

What if your 9 pellet 00 shells are marked "LAW ENFORCEMENT" and so are the boxes, and you are not L/E? I don't think this ammo is illegal to possess but may be scrutinized under a self defense situation.

Sometimes a picture is worth 1000 words, but then sometimes it leaves 1000 questions

The back pole, if that is what's depicted in the photo, extends over his hat and terminates somewhere around the tree line. It actually looks a fallen tree in the thicket. Now I just see a bipod. I don't really give two cents if it's real or not. Something tells me that, if you were to have a...

    Bird hunting safety

This is a recipe for disaster. Is there no where else you can sit and down some dove?

    Bird hunting safety

Raining "pellets" is no big deal. Sending them horizontally to another hunter is.

Sometimes a picture is worth 1000 words, but then sometimes it leaves 1000 questions

That tripod covers around 900 square feet. Oh by the way, that tripod is made from some long timber. That animal would be about 4 times bigger than the hunter. The bark on the log doesn't fit the scale.

    Morning bird hunt.

Wow I'm jealous. Nice day out for sure! What's the story with those clear-cut trees? The other pics look like there was some clear-cutting with planting afterward.. I'm not a forester, just curious.

Help me out with dove hunting, please

I was just reading through this thread to see if anyone asked this question. I'm a HUGE fan of the IC choke now. I have been shooting dove and quail with a 870 WM 16 ga. with a fixed mod choke for about 30 years. I picked up a Stoeger 12 ga M3000 this year and screwed in the IC. I didn't pattern...

Yes indeed! i forgot to quote this one earlier. Ear and eye protection are easy to get and use. A little orange might help also.

    Fantastic dove hunting this morning!

I went out and bagged 8 today after work. Had a nice thunderstorm blocking the sun for me while providing some nice cool outflows. Gonna hit em tomorrow again..

    Bird hunting safety

Reckless discharge of a firearm that resulted in an injury. I would have gotten law enforcement involved. I understand there is no criminal intent, but the negligence cannot be overlooked. I had a group shoot through trees towards me and my son last year. I moved to a lower spot in a wash and...

    Fantastic dove hunting this morning!

I truly meant that I would have to camp out to make the trip worth while. I will keep the invitation open though. I'll PM you if I come down that way.

    Black Powder Question

They definitely were not muzzleloaders. Since they were loaded from the breech, fired ammo typically made from steel and other ingredients, and were mounted on some type of platform,i.e. ship, railcar, self propelled vehicles, etc., I don't think they would fall into our category of black...

    Fantastic dove hunting this morning!

Wing shooting is difficult. Most liars are born on a wing shoot. I'm in the stage where I'm teaching my son how to do it. Success is measured by the experience, not the bag.

What shotgun feels like it was made with you in mind?

The Rem 870 Wingmaster 16 Ga. that I shot for over 30 years. I just gave it up to my older brother today. I just purchased a Stoeger M3000 and I am pleased with it so far. I'm sure it will do well for ducks (the reason I switched). That Wingmaster was my right hand though.
