With all the mention of Heinlein, I'm surprised that the shoulder mounted tactical warhead launcher (I think the Maurader suits were mentioned) weren't mentioned.
Also Simon Green's Deathstalker books have Disruptors that I absolutely hated until I figured out why he had written them the way...
Somewhat loosely related...
"Woke Up This Morning" by Alabama 3 (it's the intro to the Soprano's)
You woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun,
Mama always said you'd be
The Chosen One.
She said: You're one in a million
You've got to burn to shine,
But you were born under a bad...
Going and perusing the buyback was already discussed by several of the members on our local carry board. :)
It's been discussed quite a bit here:

It seems to me that if drug distribution networks are more concerned with expanding their clientle base (gang turf wars) then with law enforcement, then the law enforcement hasn't really been effective.
I'd tell them to withdraw from this engagment before the losses are too great, but I fear...
Yeah, I figured the 550 was going to be a better pick in this case. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious. Now I just have to figure out how to distract the wife when I bring it in.

2. I will be loading about 4-5 calibers of handguns.
3. it's unlikely that I will be loading rifles...
Matt Payne, don't get me wrong, I have a huge amount of respect for what Lucky has tried to do. I was just thinking I saw something about him being part of the citizen patrol group that would meet around the Bloomington and Chicago area, but I could be wrong.
I'm a huge advocate of the...

The Star trib is generally fairly negative on gun permit holders, so I'm not particulary surprised. And the story is obviously edited or something. He pointed the suspect out to a LEO, who tried to elude them by ducking into an alley, then later Roseburg tries to confront the man? Where is the...
