    Perazzi Trigger Work

X2 on Giacomo. Dan Lokker, Giacomo's son-in-law, tuned up the trigger on my MX8 to remove a little creep and did a super job.

    Most Reliable Semi Auto Shotgun?

From a Remington 1100. I had this happen twice to the same gun. When you order parts from Remington, and if you own an 1100 you certainly will, it's wise to order two spares. You will need them.

Did Ruger quit making the Red Label?

With only 5-6 thousand Model 32s made Remington didn't give the gun a chance to be their success. Krieghoff picked up the rights to the gun after Remington decided to discontinue it and its success came under German manufacture. CSMC and Kolar and make good guns but they are small boutique...

Did Ruger quit making the Red Label?

The Red Label earned its poor reputation. Frequent parts breakage, lousy triggers and poor handling were just some of the sins. Its delisting is no loss. Like many Ruger products it was an interesting concept that was poorly executed. Major American gun makers have never seemed able to...

Rem 887 tactical vs Benelli Nova

I'd definitely choose the Benelli. I won a Remington 887 at a shoot, was underwhelmed with the gun's quality and functioning and sold it as soon as I could.

    First Shotgun - Informal Clays

x2 on the Beretta A300 Outlander. All the features you need, easy to get replacement parts if necessary and should you decide to go on to another gun then it will probably be easy to sell on the used market. Pumps and sxs are great. I own both configurations but neither are what I choose...

    Automatics for Trapshooting

T&S shell catcher is one most commonly used. However, according to their website they don't make one for the Auto 5. http://www.tandsshellcatcher.com/products.htm

    Beretta AL 391 FT Eject

Sorry. No idea what the spring constant is and I've got no way to measure it. As far as I know Beretta uses the same recoil spring for the 390 and 391 in both gauges.

    Beretta AL 391 FT Eject

I have a new Beretta recoil spring for a 391. Here are the measurments of mine. Relaxed length: 17-1/4" Spring diameter: .5" Wire diameter is .0455" Six coils per inch FWIW, my 12 gauge has far more than 10,000 through it and works fine. My 20 gauge is around 2,500 and also works...

    America's shotgun?

America the true home of the over/under? The Brits made them first. The Belgians, Germans, Italians and Japanese have walked all over the USA in this category.

    America's shotgun?

It's a bit of a stretch to declare there are more hunters and tacticool shooters simply because the 870 has outsold other shotguns. It has been on the market longer, is less expensive and for the first half of its life was well represented in target shooting. I would consider myself...

    America's shotgun?

Not a popular opinion but one with which I fully agree. IMO, Browning's greatest achiement was the tilt-barrel locking system for semi-automatic pistols. It was ground breaking and remains in use to this day. But much of his other work was built on concepts and designs already established...

    Italian shotgun ranking

Having handled all of them, shot many of them and owned more than a few I agree with much of this but the problem becomes the range of some makers. I don't think the base Famars are on the same level as Fabbri and Bertuzzi and would put them on the Perazzi/Beretta SO level. If I were feeling...

    America's shotgun?

Wouldn't one of the requirements of "America's Gun" that it actually be built in America? The Auto 5 was initially made in Belgium and subsequently in Japan. Remington did make licensed copies of the gun as the Model 11 however.

Ready to buy a Citori White Lightning or a Beretta Silver Pigeon... new or used???

How much upland shooting do you plan to do? I own a couple of 32" o/u for target shooting and like them very much. I have used one of them for upland and concluded that I prefer a shorter barrel. My regular upland guns are a 12 gauge sxs with and a 20 gauge semi-auto both with 28" barrels.

    Outdoor Life's greatest shotguns ever

Arguing is what the editors intended. Make a list, everyone argues, they get more attention and readership goes up if they are lucky. The last copy of Outdoor Life I read was in a dentist's office and quickly concluded the publication is a faint glimmer of past glories. Today it is not...
