Just purchased a ruger #1 in 460 s&w. I have 110 powder on hand and 250gr hornady sst's. Has anybody tried this setup or any other. I plan on using the rifle for everthing from whitetial to elk and hopefully the unlucky black bear. Thanks

I live in Indiana so we are limited to shotgun, ml, or a centerfire of a max 1.8 case length and a min. of 35 cal.That being said I have taken many deer with a 12 guage using lightfield slugs and 285 grain barnes spitfire ml. bullets with a knight longrange hunter.

A good rifled bore shotgun will out shoot a smoothbore at any range. I guess a person would have to choose what range they are shooting at and if the want a gun setup just for slugs. I have seen some smoothbores that will hold a whitetail moa. Good hunting

Have you tried patterning any brand? I found that anything tighter that a factory mod choke would give me alot of flighers, nomatter what the shell was. that was shooting 3in #2 and bb.

I believe blackcloud and win. blindside are the only waterfowl loads with flight control wads. Before I used blackcloud I had good luck remington nitro's.

I handload 44 for a handi rifle and a cva scout. Found after lots of shooting that the handi likes 24.3 of little gun with the 240 xtp and the cva like 19 grains of 110 with the 300 xtp. The 300 is overkill for whitetail, but it will shoot 1.5 at 100 yards all day.
