    converting from lead to JHP

I've got my Hornady LnL AP press set up where it is cranking out 125 gr LRN 9mm bullets that I'm satisfied with. They feed, eject, shoot well, etc... Loading them to 1.127" using 0.357" Dardas cast bullets, very slight taper crimp using W231 powder. I had a problem with neck tension, then...

    LnL AP Priming issues...

Dick, They sent two large primer slides and a large and small primer punch... I just never checked to see if there was a difference when I set up the first time, just removed what was installed and replaced with the other! Works like a charm now!

    LnL AP Priming issues...

After getting the correct parts (I feel stupid for not checking the boxed equipment in the first place) everything is smooth sailing! I rather enjoy the process, it is another hobby. I used to catch myself heading to the skeet range just so I would have an excuse to load more shells. Seems...

    LnL AP Priming issues...

WOW... Hornady answered the phone, laughed at my jokes and sent my parts right out... It is ABSOLUTELY amazing what the right size of primer slide does to make loading easier! I loaded tonight, until... I'm outta bullets... Oh Well!

    Removing Lead

Thompson, I looked up the Dardas bullets and he advertises them at a 16 on the hardness scale so imagine from dealing with Matt that he is EXACTLY dead on with that number. I pulled five loaded bullets last night and every one of them measures 0.357 just like when they came out of the box...

    Removing Lead

BDS... Loading Dardas .357 125 gr RN lead with 4.1 gr W231. I thought the problem was the bullet size since I slugged my Ruger barrel and found it to be 0.3565. I then slugged my new CZ 75 and found it to be 0.3555, I figured my stock of 0.357 bullets would be good in that barrel, but I shot...

    Removing Lead

That is what I tried today, took several swipes with the Chore Boy, but eventually it is clean again. The lead was pretty much down the entire bore Thompsen... Weird, I didn't have any leading issues with the same gun and the same bullets until I changed from Unique to W231...

    Removing Lead

Okay, I developed a "leading" issue with my SR9C... What is the best way to remove that lead from the barrel?

    LnL AP Priming issues...

Dick... don't think you understood the problem/question. I'm not choosing to use the wrong part, I was unaware that it was the wrong part. When I set the machine up, I changed out the Large primer parts for the Small primer parts (so I thought) only now am I finding out that I have two of the...

    LnL AP Priming issues...

Yeah, I end up cleaning everything out more often than I pull the handle... I believe the different sized holes are allowing the primers to move around in there and not be centered every time. When I use hard primers like Tula, I don't get mangled ones, but you can definitely feel when they are...

    LnL AP Priming issues...

Okay, My problem is simple, the primers aren't lining up under my 9mm brass primer pockets in the right spot, so I will crush primers trying to seat them, about one out of every 10 if I'm going at a descent clip, more or less depending on how much I mess with it between each cycle...

    AR-15 Reloads For Home Defense

Just the other day in my CCW class, Chrisgo's point was brought up by our instructor. He pointed to a "vigilante" case about just such a thing... Not sure where I stand, but a box of JHP's is pretty cheap to not worry about it!

    Leading...

Okay, now what I really need is a picture of what "leading" really looks like. I cleaned my barrel already, but I think it looked like those in your picture which you call "lube residue". I never noticed that when using Unique, but see something like that (it might really be "leading" afterall)...

    .38 Super vs 45 ACP

Not sure where I'm going with this... just doing my research before I buy something that I will immediately want to replace. I've been down that road too many times! So it really kind of looks like the only real reason to go with a .38 super is for the magazine capacity and the placement of...

    .38 Super vs 45 ACP

What are the advantages for say IPSC/USPSA (you pick your set of initials) with these two calibers? Or any other (40 S&W) for that matter... Looking to move up in the world of competitive shooting...

    Leading...

I was loading Dardas 125 gr RN 9mm in .357" for my Ruger SR9C with 4.3 gr Unique and I never experienced ANY leading problems. I probably shot 1500 of those and never noticed any lead in the barrel, in fact I wondered if I was missing it because I didn't know what to look for. I switched to...

    ID this 9mm Brass

Got a bunch of these mixed in with Winchesters, Federals, etc... They are marked 9mm as you can see, but my SR9c doesn't like them. Any idea what they are? They all have a number between 40-44 stamped somewhere on the head and a bunch have a "D" designation in addition to the 9 MM marks.

    9mm Powder

Ah, "spill" probably isn't the best choice of wording... I load on a LnL AP progressive and every time the shell plate rotates, a couple - maybe up to 12 or so - flakes of powder kick out because of the turning and clicking into place. My press is new, so it clicks pretty good and that may be...
