1911 Commander -- the new range length?

Love my 4.25's I own a DW V-Bob, and a LB CVII, both "commander/commanche" sizes, respectively. I was digging through my bullets, wanting to reload some 230's, which do snap a little compared to a 5" 1911, and I found some 185gr flat nose match bullets. All I can say is wow. I used 5.2...

    Who makes a good 1911 in 9mm?

+1 for STI For the $$$, it's your best option. Might exceed your price range but save up and buy a nicer firearm. You'll be very glad once you have it. Best of luck to ya!

    Headed for Chicagoland. Suggestions?

DISCLAIMER: I ALWAYS CARRY A KNIFE. As for Chicago, I've been there several times, done that. Chicago is not that bad. I walked from the 47th street train through Southtown about a mile at midnight for about a month straight. Not once did I need any protection. Don't fear it and don't...

25-06. Deer don't take a step after shot with mine. But that may be just in Kansas. Best of luck to ya!

Need advice for .45ACP 1911 Purchase

Agreed, CZ! The DW series of pistols offers a standard of quality unmatched for the asking price. The OP should consider a DW. I had a MIM-ber Raptor 2, great shooter, but once I took it apart the flaws were noticable, mainly being the guide rod wouldn't stay in place under the spring...

Need advice for .45ACP 1911 Purchase

Dan Wesson Valor/V-Bob! but of that like Ed Brown by far. Colt and Kimber don't even come close to Ed Brown quality. For the price, check out Dan Wesson. IMHO, DW makes the best production 1911. Best of luck to ya...

practical advantages of the mid-lenth upper vrs. carbine upper?

Everyone's liking the midlength upper these days and rightfully so. There is going to be less wear versus the carbine length, but that comes many of rounds down the road. Truth is, shooters and collectors alike will probably never see this wear, so buy the one you want! If you're worried...

    The 7.62x54R for hunting: I'm a believer.

I rifle hunted with a Nagant last January and the doe ran about 20 yards.......Needless to say, the whole front quarters were mush. Bad shot, but some of that meat has too many tendons for my likings. Great post mustard.

Bulging Brass Loading 45 ACP Lead

Might need to buy a sizer/luber press for your lead bullets. I load a lot of .38 and its bigger brother, and I always but mine though the sizer. It usually cuts lead off every single round. I buy 1-2000 at a time. Makes for a great Sunday afternoon. Best of luck to ya!!

    1911 frame size question.

+1 to tipoc's advice Well said tipoc.... Dryft, STI makes great guns for the money. Truly a top notch production gun. Buy one before they raise their prices. This raise seems to be the trend. Hmmmmmm......I'd be happier with the commander size IMHO.

    which AK?

I've owned 2 AK rifles and sold them both. Regretting it. But I replaced them with 2 AR rifles! With this election, I may have to pick up another......and oh yeah, you can't forget to stock up on mags!!!! Any ban will affect mags and not the rifle you already own. I preferred...

    Glock 19, 17, or 34

Is the G34 really worth $100 more? I've shot very similar groups with baby glocks, compact glocks and full size glocks. All great shooters out to 17 to 20 yards. Maybe shooting a competition with the G34 will add to peace of mind :D Or maybe purchasing a G17, then an aftermarket barrel, or...

    Bolt "battle rifle"

+1 1917 Enfield I've hit 2L bottles at 200-250 yards with our Enfield. Great sights compared to some battle rifles, but it is one bulky S.O.B.:cuss: It has the 06 barrel, and the .303 remains in the dungeon of the basement. I'm assuming the .303 is just as heavy. But...oh yeah, reliability...
