multiple shots w/one pull of the trigger?

thanks for your help, it turned out to be a Ruger Mark II and i believe it was a filthy firing pin. it was so dirty that you couldn't see the firing pin return spring when the pin was removed. i stripped it down and gave it the wd40/toothbrush cleaning and will try it out this weekend. pretty...

multiple shots w/one pull of the trigger?

hi guys, someone wants me to take a look at their browning buckmark. they said that it will sometimes fire multiple shots when the trigger is pulled. What would be the most likely culprit? i'm pretty sure that the gun has seen alot of use and it is probably something worn or broken...

Can you fire .17 HMR in a revolver chambered for .22 WMR?

it would be possible but it wouldn't be safe. the 17 would be grossly undersized and the bullet may lodge in the barrel. accuracy would be terrible if it did exit (it probably would). the neck of the 17 would split open trying to fill the chamber and probably send brass bits flying. NOPE...

    Old School

i've been using an old lyman spartan press w/lee dies and a lee safety scale for over 15 years now. don't see any need to change. get good results and it "just feels like home". if i shot competition or something that required a high volume of ammo i might consider something else, but i...

    undergunning? opinions please

thanks for the replies guys, i think i'll try it this year. snuffy, you are right that the 200 grainer would outrun the 240 if the powder and charges were the same, but with the 200s i'm using a milder charge of 2400 instead of max h110. thanks.

    undergunning? opinions please

for years i've been shooting 44 mag, 240xtp w/max load of H110. shoots o.k. and has killed several deer. recently loaded up some w/17.5 grains of 2400 and a 200 gr xtp to reduce recoil (H110 & 240 combo not much fun to shoot). this load shoots very well (5-shot 1.5", sandbagged @ 65...

    encore - triple seven

a buddy of mine has recently gotten into muzzle-loading and baught a t/c encore 209. he has been shooting 2 triple seven pellets (50-grain i assume) with poor accuracy. this charge has been combined with a saboted 240 grain .430 xtp... 100 grain seems like too much for this? am i wrong? would...

    freefalling roundball? .490 or .495

tried .015 (remington pre-cut) patches over the weekend. the accuracy at 50 yards did improve but still not great. 3.5" 5-shot groups were average. got home and put one of the patches in the micrometer and it came out only .012 (no wonder they were on clearance). took mic to walmart and...

    freefalling roundball? .490 or .495

thanks for all the info... i will be shooting it this weekend with 3 different patch thicknesses and 2 ball diameters to see which it likes best. gotta go pick up a fresh can of pyrodex rs tonight. will try charges in 70, 80 and 90 grns. hopin for accuracy (deer size groups) at 100 yards. I...

    freefalling roundball? .490 or .495

shouldn't the lands of my new (50 cal) T/C Hawken bbl offer enough resistance to keep an unpatched (.490) roundball from falling to the bottom when dropped into it? Should i go to a .495 round ball? Seems to me that there should be a tiny bit of resistance. I'm assuming that the groove diameter...

    wheel weight velocity?

reloading some bullets i cast from wheel weight lead for 45-70, they are 340 grainers. I've always loaded jacketed bullets in the past and am wondering roughly how fast i can push these before i start loosing accuracy or leading up the barrel. figured i'd start with 37 grains of re 7 and work...

22 short this fella had been living under my house for a few months and waking me up at 5 am when returning home in the morning. put the smack-down on him last weekend with a 22 short to the mellon at about 20 yards. they are very quiet out of a long barrel. he was eating some leftover chicken...

    Brown Bear Ammo????

Is anyone familiar with BROWN BEAR ammo. It is made in russia and there is a good deal at a local shop on their 9mm stuff. 50 rnds of 145 gr JHP for $4.99. My P95 prefers the larger bullet as they shoot higher. IÕve been reloading for it because heavy bullet factory loads are harder to find and...
