    Favorite brand of revolver

I've owned a few of those Ruger tanks -- two GP-100s, one SP-101, and one Police Service Six. Those extremely durable revolvers really do not shoot nearly as well as Smith & Wesson revolvers in my hands, so I'll go with S&W.

    Revolver for Home Defense?

My bedside gun is a 642 or a 442, depending on what I carried that day. The J-frames are just as handy as nightstand guns or "answering the door in the middle of the night" guns as they are for daily carry. Backup is a 12-gauge pump with a mag extension.

    Double snubbies?

If I carry a reload, it is a New York reload, and it is in one or another of my pockets.

    S&W 442 vs Ruger LCR (.38 SPL)

I start and end with what works for pants pocket carry. In my case, it is the 442/642. To overcome the difficulty in shooting these guns well, I (1) load my own light .38 rounds (2) practice a lot, and (3) smooth and lighten the actions. I've built up a tolerance for 158-grain +P, but I wouldn't...

    Next Handgun-recommendations please

    I recommend brand-new Ruger .22 pistols (MK3s) and a small tube of "Gun-tite."

Would you pay $240.00 for this?

Like others have mentioned, the total price is all that matters. I wonder if some would consider it a better deal at $270, but with a transfer fee of $20. I would buy it.

My take on the most beat up question in CCW

The most important thing is to have a gun that you can deploy quickly, when you need it.

What is your primary carry gun choice ?

One or two J-frame .38s. No reloads.

Do You Carry A Revolver Exclusively?

Belt guns are nearly impossible to reach quickly when I'm wearing my winter layers, so I go with a 442 and a 642 in coat pockets. Come summertime, it's easy enough to carry a double-stack 9mm AIWB. But a J-frame or two works just fine in the summer, too.

Favorite Grips for your GP100 or SP101?

Absolutely. These are perfect grips for the SP-101. Smaller than the originals, but much better at absorbing recoil.

    Thank you Santa

In my house, there's nothing sacred about December 5th and Santa.

    Home defense 870 - 5 rounds vs. 7 rounds

I used to have 4+1 with my 870, and now I have 7+1. 7+1 feels quite a bit better for a HD gun.

    686 or 910 HD?

I'd go for the 910 for sure. 2.5 times the capacity to begin with, and a way faster reload.

    Ruger LCR...first shooting

When I bought my LCR, I was taking "one more chance" on the snub-nosed .38 for carry. I had given up on snubbies altogether before I felt the wondrous trigger and light weight of the LCR and had to acquire one for myself. But I am not so psyched about the LCR as I used to be. I bought one...

    What's your easiest carry weapon?

My carry gun, range-fun gun, home-defense gun, and backup gun are all the same: Springfield XD9 subcompact. My XD9 subcompacts are definitely not the easiest-to-carry weapons I've ever carried, but they most definitely shoot the best and carry just fine. I like for my range guns and my carry...

    The demise of metal

Polymer-framed guns are a huge improvement over steel-framed guns in many ways. Yes, there's the weight difference of course, but polymer frames also negate the need for grip panels, which makes some of the double-stack polymer handguns feel and handle similarly to single-stack steel guns...

need a good straight-up defensive wheelgun.

I don't know, but I can't imagine it would be an issue. I probably fired only 700 magnums out of mine in the 5 years that I owned it. By the time I compiled a round count of 8,327 rounds (mostly .38 handloads), I was tired of the gun and replaced it with something else as my daily carry weapon...

Why do you choose the gun and caliber you use for defense?

XD subcompacts in 9mm; two of them. Why the XD subcompact? * Fits my hands well * Points quicker for me than larger guns * Easy to carry * High capacity (14 or 17) * No safety switch or decocker * 100% reliable * I shoot it better than any other handgun I've owned or rented Why the...
