    S&B headstamp with markings?

I always called them strawberries  (some do have 2, one on either side) Realistically, I think its a representation of a flaming bombshell, some have said that they used to code a year with the marks. Patrick

    4064 or 4831

The accurate line of powders are good. I have 3 lbs of AA 4064 that I have been loading out of, cannot tell a performance difference between it and the IMR 4064. Many times it can be had a lot cheaper than the IMR as well! What bullet weights are you using or have you found any yet...

    5.56 Ammo Duplication

Howdy guys! I've been working on a project for a while as ammo has been scarce to non-existent with prices that ought to make an honest man cry! In my efforts to find an m193 or m855 ammo duplication, I came across several hurdles... First off, the case: to stay true to form, I really...

Tumbling finished rounds to remove lube etc

Even before I read down the post, I was guessing ! was tumbled and 2 was not. There are more specks in 1 and some cut flakes. I think had both been thrown from powder thrower, there's be an even number of cut flakes. I seriously doubt this has any appreciable effect, my only concerns are...

    4064 or 4831

I love IMR 4350 in my 30-06 shooting 150-180 gr bullets. I really stick with 165-168's, they seem to be the best all-around (and I have really developed a fondness for 168 gr Hornady A-max's, switching to 165 gr. SST's for deer). I like 4831 a little better on 180's and if I load a 190 gr...

    getting the dust out...

LOLOL. I'll second mlj on that one. I know the feeling you are talking about, got it every time with a new drier sheet. Not a problem, but never happens when you use the spent sheets. In a pinch, toilet paper will work too! Don't ask....

What is the allure of the NyClads? Metal penetration?

    .45 ACP Pet Loads

Thanks for the replies, it looks like I will be loading a full range of loads in HP-38 and testing this weekend. I looked in my notes and used 5.8 gr of HP-38 behind 200 gr jhp in the past, I don't know why I didn't do more testing with it and the lead. Interesting about the recoil springs, I...

    .45 ACP Pet Loads

Thanks! Im going to check out the HP 38, as I have it, and will get some BE as soon as it comes available. I hope this craziness doesnt go on for a year....

    .45 ACP Pet Loads

So is 3" all you can reasonably expect? Its not like I'm doing it all day, they open up some times. I was hoping to find a somewhat more consistent load. The TG has an edge up close, but opens to 4-5" from 25 yards. I have stayed away from bullseye thus far, but am willing to give it a try...

    converting from lead to JHP

Obviously, seating depth will have to be looked at and maybe adjusted. I find you need much more flare with cast to prevent lead shaving upon seating, so you may can back off the flaring die some. Go slow at first and load only a handful until you are sure settings are right! The Lee Factory...

    .45 ACP Pet Loads

Hi guys! Im shooting a Colt Series 70 1911, and am getting respectable accuracy, just under 3" at 25 yds. Currently using remington and winchester brass, as well as some picked-up mixed range brass. Can't currently tell sorting brass is helping, may discontinue in the future. My load is...

    Anyone still using .45 GAP?

I see no way its not a higher pressure round if you are achieving ~same velocities, with same bullet weights and in a shorter cartridge. BUT, its probably a non-issue, as it seems they put a thicker web (probably for margin of safety and brass life).

    Anyone still using .45 GAP?

Regardless of who is using it currently, no major federal agency has picked it up that I have seen. With only a handful of state police using the cartridge, I really think that the GAP will fall from favor within 5 more years. As others have noted, Glock is the only mfg. that still produces...

Playing the probabilities in a robbery...

I'm thinking more along the lines of second wallet, the kind designed to fit around the Ruger LCP.... nifty method of carry and covert.

    Hollow points

How many cheapy foreign HP's have you guys seen? Every single one that I've caught has been open base. I SERIOUSLY doubt you'd stick a jacket by drilling the nose... and if that's not enough, check out the Winchester Ranger-T's. Long story short, a buddy's dog got shot with one, it hit the...

    AA#5 for 9mm

I use Accurate No. 5 exclusively when loading lead 125 gr in 9mm. My mould is a Lyman 358342, lubed with BAC, and I settled on 5.5 gr as most accurate/least unburnt powder. The powder meters so well and consistently that I stuck with it, and keep about 2-2.5" groups at 25 yds with a Beretta...

Improperly entered firearms serial numbers (stolen reports)

The firearm in question was a Uberti Regulator .44 SAA. It took all week to get back, and they were absolutely unapologetic about the seizure. Even after showing them images online of other firearms with the same number, I ended up having to personally retrieve and bring my original box (thank...
