Can These Be Safely Used? 45acp Undersized Bullet

Generally, a thin coat might add 1-2 thousands, a heavy coat 2-3 thousands. If you pre heat the bullets briefly the powder sticks better and the coat will be thicker. Set them upright on a pan with non-stick aluminum foil and Carefully! Set them in the oven. I can usually do about 100 at a...

Can These Be Safely Used? 45acp Undersized Bullet

I have been having great fun increasing bullet diameters by powder coating them. I have 500 pulled 0.308 bullets that I have been increasing to 0.311-0.312 for using in my SKS. It's very easy. I tumble them for 2 minutes in a #5 plastic ham container with a teaspoon of Harbor Freight powder...

    Should I start casting?

For me it is one more aspect of this all engrossing hobby. It's very satisfying to take dirty wheel weights, melt them down and turn them into shiny bullets. It does require a bit of startup cost, however, with lee sizing dies and tumble powder coating it is more reasonable to get started.

    Modified 223 seating plug?

I realize that the ring around the bullet isn't as important as getting the base right. However, this is a hobby to me and it is important to me that the cartridge look right as well as perform well! "its about pride!". I tried the modified plug and it worked very well with just a trace of...

    Modified 223 seating plug?

The straw with the bullet measured 0.236 OD. The wall of the straw measured.006 so I figure the ID of the straw has to be almost exactly .224! How cool is that!

    Modified 223 seating plug?

Some follow up and a tip. I was camping this weekend and was unable to try your suggestions. You know you've got it bad when you spend your weekend vacation thinking about getting home to reload! I wasn't feeling courageous enough to start beagling my seating plug. I decided to try the...

    Bullet Storage Containers

I use sliced ham containers. You can store 500 bullets easily. Stack up to 3-4 high. Also work well for tumbling powder coat bullets.

    Modified 223 seating plug?

Hi everyone I'm working with hand cast 223's, powder coated. Hoping to improve accuracy at higher velocities. My standard RCBS seating plug doesn't match the shape of my bullet and is indenting a ring around it. Does anyone know of a source for custom seating plugs? Thanks.

    Reloading Russian Calibers

I just started reloading 9 x 18 Makarov, using 9 x 19 Lugar brass. Using 4.3 gr universal, WSP, 93 gr Lead round nose from Midway. Shoots 850-950fps and 2 inch groups at 15 yards. First reloads have an hourglass shape but they straighten out well with firing. Be sure to mark them well to...
