Metal tab fell out of Remington 1100 12ga

Interestingly there is something broken off here but it doesn't match the piece that fell out the gun. :uhoh: I got this gun when Obama was elected and everyone was panic buying .22 ammo for the first time. I traded two $16 boxes of ammo for this shotgun. It is really beat up but it became my...

Metal tab fell out of Remington 1100 12ga

Any idea what this goes to? I'd like to get the replacement part on order before I tear the gun down and risk losing something.

    SS109 tolerances

I've weighed about 100 right now and my upper and lower limits are between 61.90 and 63.10 - Not too bad. You guys are correct in that I am getting what I paid for. This company had a sale on these "factory new" projectiles and sold out pretty much instantly. I saw the deal on slickguns. I...

    SS109 tolerances

Well some projectiles were meant for the scrap bin. Some have cannelures, some don't. Some have crimped boat tails, others have boat tails that fan out. :uhoh: You do make an important point, though. All that really matters is the diameter and roundness which is likely fairly standard across...

    SS109 tolerances

I ordered some "new" projectiles recently only to find that the seller was selling what they described as "sweep bin" bullets - bullets that fell on the production factory floor and could not be used in their sellable product. There are a lot of projectiles that look questionable. I want to...

    K31 rear sight base removal

The rear sight was removed by the previous owner. I'm trying to get info on removing the rear sight base. I did find that the dimple I was referring to earlier supposedly holds the spring in place.

    K31 rear sight base removal

That is likely all the guidance I will need. Thanks! I keep adopting other people's gun projects - I need to start charging $ or something. But then I wouldn't get to play with everyone else's firearms.. Basically the guy acquired the rifle already sporterized. Barrel lopped off...

    K31 rear sight base removal

I can't find any resources on how one would go about removing the rear sight base from a K31. There is no screw head visible at all. There is a dimple that looks like it could have been a screw at some point but there is no screw head. It is just an exposed (tapered) through-hole in the bottom...

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

It's definitely the 68 grain projectiles. Loaded up 5 rounds with 24.5gn varget under 68gr HPBT. 4 grouped a tad over 1.5". The fifth was a flyer - If you count the fifth you get 3.7" at 100m. Next group was 5 shots 55gn Sierra BK. .66" at 109yd. :D I started out with heavier projectiles...

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

I'm going to do a little more testing out to 200m with these projectiles. Hopefully whatever projectile I find shoots well in the 18" AR will also do well in the 20" bolt gun. I would really like to standardize on something. Primers are flattened slightly with the 24.5gn load. Going to try...

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

I then made up 4 with 24.5 gn varget. Velocities: 2716 2725 2753 2731 Interestingly the group could have been better.. all four shots were made in under a minute. That black border on the red dot was wreaking havoc on my eyes.

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

I have easy access to a 50m range so I did some testing earlier this evening. I had 30 rounds made up with 23.0gn varget with COAL just short enough to make it into the magazine. I ran six back through the bullet seater and seated them to 2.250" just to see. At 50m: Velocities: 2473...

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

Would the regular 69gr MKs or 69gr tipped MKs be more stable?

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

I just realized the smallest and largest group I have ever shot was with 23.0gn varget under 68gn hornady HPBT. .36" and 6".. :)

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

It is crazy that I shot the smallest group I have ever shot (by far) with the same bullets but from a different gun. The rifle that shoots this load well is a bolt gun with 2 more inches of barrel (20") at the same twist rate (1:9). Going to pick up some 69gr matchkings as well as trying a...

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

Was looking for new projectiles and found a thread on the popular ar15 site about an identical experience. He ended up switching to a different powder to get the groups under control. Maybe this isn't such a strange event after all.. live and learn.

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

Well the reason I'm so weirded out is because I have been falsely under the impression that if you make match grade bullets (as similar as possible) they should be fairly accurate or at least have reasonably consistent points of impact. I think of doing load development for other rifles - I...

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

Yeah I'm ready confused about the whole ordeal. I didn't know bullets could be so consistently bad.

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

Charge 23.0gn varget. Min is 22.7, max is 24.9 although I'm using military brass. Trimmed, deburred, flash hole uniformed, etc. All components sorted by weight. Charges +/- 1 granule of powder. All projectiles 67.98gn.

    68gr Hornady Poor Accuracy

Since everyone likes pictures - Left target is hand loads at 100m. Right target is the last group I shot. 5 Shots, 100m, factory ammo. [edit] If varying the charge by some percent takes the hand loads from 5" MOA to 1" MOA there is still no way I will ever use that ammo when it mattered -...
