I bumped to the top because tomorrow I'm taking it to the gun shop to see if they're interested.

Price check on Charter Pathfinder .22 magnum please

Please tell me the book value of a Charter Arms Pathfinder .22 magnum revolver. It is an older model that has a blue finish, 6" barrel, and bulldog grips. I'd appreciate a price for excellent condition and also a price for mint condition. Thank you.

Can I give a handgun to my son who lives in a differnet state?

I didn't thing I could. (I guess I should've gave him the handgun a couple years ago when he lived in Indiana. Wait... I could give him a handgun that I owned when he lived in Indiana, along with paperwork showing a date back then...)

Can I give a handgun to my son who lives in a differnet state?

I live in Indiana. My son lives in Kentucky. If I give him a handgun without using a FFL holder, am I breaking state and/or federal law. I think I know the answer and you might to, but I hope to hear from those of you who know for sure. Thanks.

Help with a decision - pocket carry

I suggest a Smith & Wesson .38 special airweight "J" frame. My favorite is the model 642 in a Mika pocket holster in my right front pants pocket. I don't have to wear a jacket. I don't have to leave my shirt hanging out. I don't have to use a tuckable holster. I don't have to carry a fanny...

.22LR carry pistol for my girlfriend. Need suggestions.

I recommend a revolver for the same reasons as "Steve C". I would buy a Smith & Wesson. You can do a search for specific models. The discontinued model 34--J frame, blue, 2" barrel, adjustable rear sight--was pretty nice. I've had problems with one older model Taurus and two older model...

I have a CZ75DAO which is double action only.

Good pistol for my wife to use

My wife is petite, and doesn't have a strong trigger finger. Her home defense gun is a stainless .357 magnum Ruger Speed Six with 2 3/4" barrel. A gunsmith worked on the trigger, so double action trigger pull is now about 8 lbs. Cartridge ignition is reliable. My wife has small hands, so I...

Ruger LCP .380 ammo for SD

I have no experience with the LCP. I prefer at least .38 special +P for self defense. If I carried a .380, I would load it with a jacketed, non-hollowpoint round that feeds reliably. Reliability is #1, and #2 is penetration. I'm not an expert, but that's the way I see it.

    A good IWB around $50?

I don't have one but, on forums such as this, members have mentioned they like this one. http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_5&products_id=35

    1st .44 Mag Poll

I do not own a .44 magnum and I am not a hunter. My friend is a deer hunter. He is also very knowledgeable about weapons and owns many. For what it's worth, he uses a Ruger Redhawk.

Which 1911 pistol do you recommend?

I have a mil-spec Springfield 1911-1A that I bought 15 years ago. Selling it has never crossed my mind. It is very, very reliable with my 230 gr. lead roundnose reloads and with 230 gr. Federal Hydra-Shok JHP's. The high profile fixed sights are very useable--a huge improvement over the low...

How does a HiPower compare in size to

I can tell you that a full-size CZ75B is about the same size as a full size Springfield 1911-A1. With both wearing stock grips, the CZ is about 1/10" thicker at the grip (which is the widest part). The CZ is just a little shorter in length because it's barrel length is 4.7" versus 5.0" for the...

    Concealed Pistol Dilemma

I carry a Smith & Wesson 642 in a Mika pocket holster in my front pants pocket. Empty weight of the revolver is about 15 ozs. This works with just about any pair of shorts or pants for me. Sure, a slight bulge can be seen with some but one can't tell it's from a gun. I suggest an airweight...

    Lee auto prime+Federal primers=BOOM????

Lee says not to use their tool with Federal primers. I'm not going to tell you it's okay. I will say I've used their tool with Federal primers. I put 50 in the tray at a time. I never had a problem. Only with Federal-- I wear safety goggles like I would if using a hammer and chisel/drift...

Just an old fashioned preference poll

Some years ago I bought a parkerized Springfield with a 5" barrel and high visibility sights for $350. I added a bushing compensator and heavy duty recoil spring and full length recoil spring guide rod with built in "shock absorber" for $100. I only fire 230 gr. lead round nose reloads and...

Advice on choosing a carry gun

I'm happy with a 642 loaded with +P Speer Gold Dot 135 gr. JHP's in a Mika pocket holster in my front pants pocket. I've owned snubbies from Colt (Detective Special), Smith and Wesson (a model 49 and a model 37), Taurus (an older model 85), and Charter Arms (an older Undercover .38). I like...

    I know little about revolvers!

I've owned snubbies made by Colt, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, and Charter Arms. The only one I have now is the Smith & Wesson Model 642. It is the best one I've ever owned.

Need Your Opinion on an AMT Backup

My 2003 "Gun Traders Guide" says: New in Box-$250; Excellent Condition-$175; and Good Condition-$120. I owned one. It was reliable with 95 gr. FMJ (jacketed round nose) ammunition. If you want this for personal protection, that bullet type ain't all bad. You need reliability and...
