    What Got You Into Reloading?

A friend convinced me to give high power a try in the early 90's (I was around 33) and I was hooked. He was kind enough to loan me an extra M1A and some ammo to practice a little and shoot my first match. Afterwards, he told me unless I had barrels of money laying around I needed to start...

I have around 13 milsurps, from a Sharps carbine to an IHC Garand, older than my 62 years. Several shot guns and a couple of hand guns also.

    Who taught you to handload?

I got talked into highpower in the early 90's. The enabler, um, friend also "encouraged" me to start hand loading. It really has been a great hobby I didn't know I needed. Bought an RCBS Rockchucker kit and added to it through the years. I now load for 20+ rifle cartridges and maybe a dozen...

Repairing a GI Duffel Cut stock

What a coincidence. I picked up the same rifle at an estate sale a while back. It was also duffel cut. Great information for the future repair.

Ok guys, I need new one piece cleaning rod.

Another Dewey user here. Bought my first one when I got into High Power in the early 90's. Along with a good bore guide, they can't be beat.

What was your first gun and do you still have it (them)?

My Dad bought me a Mossberg 283-TB .410 bolt action as a Christmas gift in 1973. I was 12. I literally could have filled the bed of our old International pickup with the squirrels I killed by the time I graduated from high school. We ate a lot of squirrel. And yes, I still have it. I carried it...

What (paper or e-zine) gun magazines do you guys read?

The wife gets American Hunter and I get the Rifleman, we're both lifers. I also get Guns and Ammo, Whitetails and a few other hunting mags. Mostly for my Optical shop for people to read while they're waiting.

    Gun nut humor

When my oldest granddaughter was 5-6 years old she would save the brass shavings when I trimmed cases. She thought it looked like gold (today it is). She still has a Sierra box full of shavings, at 18.

    Grandpas /passed down guns

I have a Hamilton Model 27 my Grandpa got by selling salve when he was around 7 years old (1914). Years later he owned a garage in the small town our family settled in. He kept a Savage-Stevens bolt action single shot .22 there for people to use if the needed something to shoot a hog or beef for...

    What did you shoot today?

I had RSO duty this morning. I had some time before anybody showed up so I put around 50 rounds through a 10-22. Also a magazine through one of the AR's. I brought along the model 99 in 250-3000 but only had a few rounds for it. Guess its time to assemble some more.

Please contact the NRA about Mr. LaPierre

My wife and I filled out our ballots. Didn't vote for anyone that was an incumbent or nominated by the "nominating committee". One person was nominated by member petition. That person got our only vote. Read the resumes.

Rifles I'm glad I bought when I had the chance...

I don't have a photo right now (I'm at work), but my Model 70 Classic Laredo 7mm Rem. Mag. in an H&S precision stock. Closeout for $399. The distributor had 300 Win. Mag. also at the same price. Should have bought one of each. The rifle is heavy but with my hand loads it will shoot 1" groups at...

    Have gun people stopped buying?

The last new gun I bought was a Glock 43X. It was a table upgrade gun at a Friends of NRA banquet. Good deal at $400, no tax or transfer fee. I've pretty much quit on new guns but you put anything from a Garand to a Trapdoor, I get the urge. Plenty of ammo and components.

Same thing happened to me about a month ago. They finally responded back wanting a picture of me holding two forms of ID. I still haven't taken the time to do it.
