Solid, cheap, single-shot break open 12 gauge shotgun with manual extractors

Hey thanks for all the replies. It always ejects the 2 3/4 skeet and game loads reliably, but it's the 3-inchers that give it problems sometimes. I suspect the greater metal-to-metal surface contact with the longer brass creates more friction. But I'm almost certain it's a problem with gum...

    Suggestions for a sub-$600 lever-action rifle in .308 Win

Thanks for all the great advice! I prefer the .308 because of its versatility on different game species and the wide-spread availability of both .308 and 7.62 NATO ammo. Even though I prefer a lever, I didn't think about a pump-action. That's something I would definitely consider.

    Suggestions for a sub-$600 lever-action rifle in .308 Win

I appreciate the quick replies. Personally I would want a Savage 99 since they are the most classic, but good ones seem to be the most expensive of the three. Are they easy to re-barrel? I haven't looked at the Sako, I'll look into that. But I would prefer USA-made if possible.

    Suggestions for a sub-$600 lever-action rifle in .308 Win

Hey guys, I'm looking for a .308 Win lever rifle for big game hunting, and a SHTF rifle that can fire the vast stocks of surplus 7.62mm NATO in the event that municipal, state, or national governance temporarily collapses either due to a natural disaster, social or political upheaval, or some...

Solid, cheap, single-shot break open 12 gauge shotgun with manual extractors

I sprayed some WD40 into the spring mechanism housing, right beneath the chamber. It seemed to fix the problem, the shells eject reliably. But I don't want something like this happening again, I really wish there was an extractor where the leverage generated by breaking the gun open would pull...

Solid, cheap, single-shot break open 12 gauge shotgun with manual extractors

Hey all, I own a NEF Pardner in 12 gauge and the ejector jams sometimes, leaving the spent shell stuck in the breech and forcing me to find a stick to poke it out. I was wondering if there are any good, inexpensive single-shot break open shotguns, either modern production or discontinued...

Marlin Model 60 long-term durability vs Savage 64 long-term durability

Thanks to everyone who posted and for the advice. After reading these posts and doing some more research, I've decided pretty firmly on the Marlin 60. Opinions on the 60 are overwhelmingly positive, thread after thread. Back in college I had a Marlin 336C .30-30 it was a beautiful and accurate...

Marlin Model 60 long-term durability vs Savage 64 long-term durability

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it. I read somewhere that the cleaning solvents chemically react with the nylon recoil buffer on the 60, making it more prone to breakage. Is that true? Also, I read that the best way to lubricate a Model 60 is to grind pencil lead into a powder and...

Marlin Model 60 long-term durability vs Savage 64 long-term durability

Hey all, I would like to get a .22 rifle for hunting small game in Maine up to 75 yards with headshots only. I would like it to be a semi-auto. I am primarily looking at the Marlin Model 60 and the Savage 64. I know both are going to be accurate. But I've head Marlins develop problems over...
