    Problems with the 45 Auto

Here is another vote for the Lyman "M" expander die. They will expand the case mouth .002" - .004" without making a flare or bell. The bullet will fit tight in the mouth, stand straight up, and it will seat without shaving the lead or plating. I use them for both rifle and pistol and am...

    Wideners has Sold?

I use to get an email from Widener's at least once per week, sometimes 2 or 3 per week, with sale items or new products. After reading this thread I realized I have not had one since before Christmas.

    Note on Primers

I've also used just about every brand of primer made and never had one fail. I have shallow seated one a few times and had to fire it a second time to make it go off, but that was my fault. When primers were in short supply a couple of years ago I bought what ever I could find; Wolf, Tulammo...

Anybody have any experience with Wolf bullets?

No, it was not from a search it was from the web site. Oh well, at least you fixed it.

Anybody have any experience with Wolf bullets?

Thanks for correcting the link. I wonder why mine didn't work?

Anybody have any experience with Wolf bullets?

I came across this web site selling 4,000, Wolf 55gr, .224 bullets for $200 that's $.05 each. That is a heck of a good price if the bullets are any good. The last time I bought cheap bullets I had to send them back so I'm a little skeptical and wonder if anyone has any experience with these...

    223 and CFE

I've started using CFE223 in all my .223 loads. It is the cleanest burning powder I've ever used. I can fire 200 rounds and clean the barrel in about 5 minutes. With any other powder it would take about 15 or 20 minutes. It does not completely eliminate copper streaks but it does reduce...

Which brand of primer do you use?

I've used just about every brand of primer made and have never had a single misfire with any of them. Maybe I'm just lucky. I recently bought 20,000 Wolf small rifle primers for my AR's on sale for $16.00/K. So far I've used about 1,500 of them without a single misfire. The only primer I...

Primer goes off in inertial bullet puller on a loaded cartrige

The only logical explanation I can think of is powder hitting the anvil hard enough to set off the primer. Since Varget is a stick powder maybe one or two pieces hit the primer anvil with enough force to make it go off.

Reloading items that have made your life BETTER

Lyman "M" mouth expanding die. Does not bell or flare the mouth it expands the mouth about .002". I use it for rifle and pistol reloads. RCBS collet bullet puller. Makes pulling bullets almost fun and beats the heck out of the kinetic puller. RCBS lock out die. I won't reload pistol...

    Who makes Dillon dies?

That is kinda like all the reloading companies selling scales and calipers with their names on them. I would be willing to bet a years income none of them have ever manufactured the first scale or caliper.

Primer goes off in inertial bullet puller on a loaded cartrige

I quit using the hammer bullet puller about two years ago and it was the best reloading decision I've made in a long time. Pulling heavy pistol bullets like .45, .40 or even 9mm is not problem, but light weight .22 caliber bullets are a pain. I bought an RCBS Collett type puller and it is...

Primer goes off in inertial bullet puller on a loaded cartrige

I had a primer detonate when priming .223 brass. It didn't cause any damage and I was not hurt, but I did have to change underwear. The primer was a Federal small rifle. I did some research on-line and found many reports of premature detonations using Federal primers and a few using other...

    Wet vs. dry case cleaning.

I've heard some people say removing the carbon from the neck of the brass makes it harder to seat a bullet. The burnt carbon acts as a lubricant. In fact you can buy containers of graphite to dip the neck of brass in to make seating easier. That is the only negative I've heard of in wet...

    Wet vs. dry case cleaning.

I don't know where it came from either except I tried oven drying brass twice on the lowest oven setting I could get and both times the brass tarnished in about two days. Maybe my oven temperature control is way off. Edit: maybe I left them in the oven too long?

    Wet vs. dry case cleaning.

That depends on how fast you need to dry the brass. If you don't have much brass and need to reload quickly there are several options - hair dryer, food dehydrator, put them in a bag in the clothes dryer, etc. Otherwise just let them air dry. If you put them in an oven even at very low...

    Wet vs. dry case cleaning.

I had an intermittent problem with two pins getting side by side in the flash hole of .223 brass. Then I found that the pins come in two different diameters .041" and .047". I switched to the larger .047" pins and haven't had any problems since.

    Wet vs. dry case cleaning.

It's not strictly necessary to clean brass. It will help make your dies last longer if you do, but they will still go bang without cleaning. That said I've used both vibratory and wet cleaning. I now use wet cleaning with SS pins, water, dawn soap, and a little citric acid (lemon shine)...

    Looking for a new press.

Here is one of the best write-ups comparing the LNL, Dillon, and Lee presses I've seen. It's worth taking the time to read.

    L-N-L Pleasant Surprise

One of the best improvements I've made to my LNL was shimming the drive hub to get a optimum clearance between the drive hub and sub base. It makes the rotation of the shell plate smooth as butter and allows seating of primers just right. It also reduces the wobble of tall rifle cases like...
