    Indoor range "Concerns"

Have stopped going to the indoor range for each of the above reasons. I wore quality muffs over my medically crafted ear plugs and still was not protected from the loud muzzle blasts of the .50 caliber and other high caliber guns. Took me till the next day for my body to feel right again from...

    Would you accept the liability?

No, I would not place myself in a litigious situation. Also, I don't lend ladders or power tools to neighbors or friends. I have witnessed to many friendships lost "being nice". Honesty works everytime.

    Problem Bears ... Any Tips?

When you are putting out bait stations and waiting for your intended game to show up is not hunting. As a young boy growing up in Clearfield County, Pa., we would park our truck/car and start walking into the woods "hunting" for whatever game was in season. No one talked about baiting. We would...

    Over 60 shooting

I am 77 and have gone the red dot route. Eyes need help to keep those tight groups. Shot my AR15 A4 with iron sights a couple of days ago at 50yds. Mama, who is 95 years old always wants to see my targets when I come home. She kind of grades them. Needless, to say, the dog ate it. Sorry Mama. ;)

    Best Home Defense Rifle?

A lot of good input on this thread, but have to agree with C.R., your location and conditions dictate the home defense weapon. No such thing as the "best" or "perfect" home defense weapon. Whatever your choice, make certain that you train-train-train in proper usage and for when things go bad.

    Ar Pistol as "truck gun"

Own a Sig MPX and would never consider it a "truck gun". Not planning on getting a stamp to SBR it, so shooting it strictly as a pistol, (even a vertical fore grip not permitted;angle fore grip okay) is a challenge if you are interested in POA. Forget accuracy with double or triple taps. Have a...

No. I do not need others validation. My guns, like my finances are my personal business.

Headed to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary in a few minutes...

A wonderful post. Your Dad would be proud of You. Spent part of yesterday at Veteran's Memorial Park in Tampa. Took my wife and 92 year old Mama. It was special.

    Ear Protection

readyeddy: Very good advice and much appreciated. That is my plan. Particularly for indoor shooters like myself, I think all the protection you can give your ears is smart. I have done quite a bit of reading on ear protection since I began this thread, and the damage that can occur due to...

    Ear Protection

FL-NC: Appreciate the post on your Howard-Leights. Although I have ordered a set of Peltor's X5A (passive muffs), I have not ruled out electronic muffs sometime in the future. Changing our minds and trying something new seems to go with guys and guns. Appreciate :)

    Ear Protection

SwaneeSR; jmorris; AzShooter1; OilyPablo; Wish to thank each of you for your posts and excellent insight/information. As a recreational shooter, 2-3 times per month, (indoor range) I have decided on purchasing a set of Peltor x-series (X5A) from Midway. They are the passive muffs. One of the...

    Ear Protection

ClickClickD'oh; Trentcwwilson;& Jim Watson: Gonna jump in on your exchange and let you know how much I appreciate the dialogue. Picking up good information and making notes. Names, models, passive vs electronic, foam plugs. Learning a lot from you all. At the range, not interested in talking...

    Ear Protection

OilyPablo: Thank you for the quick reply. Sounds like a start for me. If not to much trouble, would be interested in the make and model of your muffs. trentcwilson: Wish the local indoor range would put a stop to those high calibers. Really tough for us others in a small area. Will look into...

    Ear Protection

Would like some recommendations on ear protection. Shoot only at a 100 yd. indoor range. (Savage MK II, .22LR). Presently using molded ear plugs, but not adequate when others are shooting .50, .308 and other large caliber rifles. Only 7 lanes, so it can get quite loud. Have left on some...

    Mounting scope on my AR-15

fireman 9731: Good advice. Appreciate the quick response. Understand the consequences of over-tightening. Will follow your advice as applying equal pressure as the tightening of lugs on wheels. Will also make certain cross hairs are level. Thank you very much.

    Mounting scope on my AR-15

Just purchased a Nikon P-223 (3 x 32) scope along with a Nikon P-Series mount for my Colt LE6920 SOCOM. Have been relying on my BUIS, but the eyes are now needing some support. Questions: Is their a "right" location on the Picatinny rail to secure the mount? Do I need a tool that calibrates...

    NICS Delay.

In Florida, a NICS is required even with a CCL. Kind of envious knowing that step is eliminated if You are issued a CCL in 40 plus states. Normally my wait is no longer than 15 minutes for approval, but still annoying. Perhaps a way for shops to pick up an additional $5.00

When you retired, did your time spent with guns increase, or*?

After retirement, spent much more time with my guns and knifes. Have the honey-do stuff, but still time for the collection. Turn 74 years old tomorrow and think I am doing OK. Had a heart attack a few years ago and now need a knee replacement. See those as potholes in the road to getting old...

    Do you display your guns?

Do not have any visible signs of gun or knife collection in home or garage. No magazines, flyers etc. lying around. Have visitors in home from time to time, along with repairman and do not want to create some buzz. Eyes can sometimes take in a lot of information. The visitor or repairman may not...
