    New SP101

I'm 5'8 150lbs, I shoot full power loads with heavy hard cast bullets (180 grains @ 1150 fps+) and it's no less tolerable than a Glock 29 with heavy handloads. It doesn't hurt my hand at all with the stock grip. Sure you can feel it , but it's a 357 not a 454 Casull. If it hurts your hand it's...

    Ladysmith vs SP101

Are you serious? Have you ever shot full power loads in an SP101? It's not bad at all. The stock grip is excellent imo.

    Ladysmith vs SP101

You you're going to shoot mostly 38 special and 38 Speciual +P from your 357 then buy the Smith. If you want to shoot real 357 Magnum full power loads and lots of them then get the Ruger.

Which brand of primer do you use?

Cabelas had S&B primer for sale at $21.99 for a thousand. I bought 2 boxes.

    Lyman 49th manual, small rant.

Funny that you Reloader Fred with your 5-20,000 posts on every gun forum on the internet would lecture me about my reliance on said internet.

    Lyman 49th manual, small rant.

If I lose power for a week reloading ammo will be the least of my concerns Fredricko.

    bullet weight preference for .38/.357

I like the heavier bullets in 357 Magnum. The 170 grain Keith SWC's are very accurate bullets in all my 357's and leave a lot of room in the case for powder. I load them long with 2400 or PP300MP and get high velocity with excellent accuracy. The Cast Performance 187 (185 grain actual weight)...

What is the most energetic hand gun caliber you own?

I have a Magnum research BFR in 45-70 with the 7.5" barrel. It shoots softer with Alliant 2400 handloads than my 3.75" Talo Superblackhawk with full power loads.

    Lyman 49th manual, small rant.

Then I'll go in the garage and get my generator old timing man. Then again it's 2015 and I could always use my smartphone.

    Favorite Pistol powder

That's easy Power pro 300MP and Power Pistol provide top velocity with no surprises. Alliant hit it out of the park with these two powders. Two other outstanding powders powders I like are WSF which is my number one choice for accurate reduced power loads in 10mm and Herco which is slightly...

    Lyman 49th manual, small rant.

Honestly these days there's really no need for reloading manuals anymore. Everything you need can be found online from the bullet and powder manufacturers. Hodgdon, Alliant, Accurate Arms, Hornady, Nosler, Sierra and just about everyone else selling components has load data available on their...

    Lyman 49th manual, small rant.

The Lyman manual isn't bad, but the Hornady 9th edition reloading manual is a confusing pos. Their load data is all over the place. They have some dangerously excessive 10mm loads which show low velocity for the pressure they're producing. Their 357 magnum loads are milder than any other...

    New SP101

You're going to love it, even the heaviest loads are tolerable with the little SP101.

    357 mag s&w

If you're really worried about a bear attacking you get some bear spray. It's much easier to spray a charging bear than it is to shoot it in the head and you both live to fight another day. http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/hunting/2008/12/use-pepper-spray-instead-guns-stop-charging-grizzly

Can you hit the broad side of the barn with a Ruger LCR?

It takes more concentration than most guns but yes absolutely. I wouldn't keep it if I couldn't shoot it.

    Minimum barrel for maximizing .357

The cylinder gap of a revolver nullifies any advantage of the long cylinder. Wouldn't you agree Clark? A Coonan semi auto 357 Magnum with a 5" barrel will shoot the same ammo faster than a revolver with a 5" barrel and much faster than a revolver with a 3.3" barrel.

    Minimum barrel for maximizing .357

This thread piqued my curiosity so I went through my notes and looked at some of my hotter handloads from my SP101 with a 2.25" barrel. 158 grain XTP 15.5 grains W296 1054 fps ave. 180 grain XTP 13.5 grains W296 1002 fps ave. 185 grain WFN 17 grains PP300MP 1112 fps ave. - 1320 fps ave...

just got my first Russian TT-33

Brass fetcher's testing with handloads proved the round has potential with expanding bullets. The 32 caliber 100 grain XTP at 1550 fps did pretty good. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=245469 $600 is too much for a TT33
