KelTec Sub 2000 Impressions -- The Good and Bad of this Carbine

Literally bought one three days ago for $400 and bought a cheap Korean made 28 rd mag for $30 (hopefully cheap will equal functional this time around). I like the review and will probably take it out to the range in the next thirty minutes! Hopefully the goods will stay good and the bad play out...

    Scope magnification?

Just so everyone knows, as I previously stated somewhere on the second page of this thread (I am the OP) I will be using a traditional 3-9x40 to benchrest shoot AND hunt with. I would like to get comfortable with my new rifle while enjoying the comforts of the range, then use it to go...

    Scope magnification?

Well I basically decided that I will either grab a scope that is 3-9x40 or 4-12x40. Just seems to make sense since my rifle does not have any sort of iron sights. Thanks for all of the advice!

    Ammo Prices!

Is it just me or have we been in the drought so long that I can't even remember what ammo prices used to be like :uhoh: Of course I'm exaggerating but I seriously have to go look at my stash and check the stickers just to make sure someone isn't making a sucker out of me!! Vent your...

    Scope magnification?

This is really good info guys! I have a Winchester Model 70 with a 6x fixed on top of it and is really all I've ever needed until I bought my new savage 308...now I need something more versatile (hence why I said 800 as a practical range, you don't have to shoot coyotes cleanly to get the...

    Scope magnification?

Is it REALLY necessary to have an optic that magnifies super high ei: 3x20, 4x16, 5x25000000? For most practical ranges wouldn't a scope that magnifies 3x9 be just as useful if not less complicated than these extremely high range optics? Practical meaning hunting, paper punching, varmint...

Why conceal if you're going to announce it to the world?

There is alot of ambiguity to this subject. I recommend only discussing it with people who are either A. taking a CC class B. have taken a CC class or C. anyone that needs to know. I've been carrying for 2 years and my grandmother just happened to bump me in such a way that my in the waistband...

Hmm, time to add to the collection again

In my experience (only 7 years of gun "collecting") buy what you wont regret. There is always a practical choice but the difference between a right or wrong choice here is buyers remorse. I'm sure if you had it your way you would just buy all of them but that wouldnt be much fun...

    Vortex Scopes

Awesome guys, thanks! Its nice getting feedback that is actually constructive... Anyways... The reason I am looking so close at Vortex scopes is because the only gun shop in my town is a merchandiser for Vortex so naturally he only carries Vortex. The next nearest shop is 160 miles away and I...

    Choosing Between .204 .223 And .22-250

I vote 22-250 whether you handload or not. Its the only caliber here that I would be comfortable enough with to go deer hunting. I know any caliber can take an animal that's roughly deer shaped but I would like to think that most folks want a clean kill and not chasing the darned animal up...

    Vortex Scopes

If the low end can hold zero and has bright enough glass then I may not be making a mistake for a slightly higher priced unit. How would you rate overall craftsmanship?

    Vortex Scopes

Forgive me Taliv, I get a little distracted when I am trying to weed out the folks that are just going to ignore my question and recommend their "go-to" product! You know how it is... I am looking at all lines but the viper line seems to be the most attractive glass they have. 4x16 seems...useful

    Vortex Scopes

Sorry for lack of clarity... I will mostly be using this rifle on coyote shaped varmits out to ranges of 600-800 yards. But I am also considering another scope to replace my Burris LCR on my AR. I like the scope but I am ready for a little higher magnification and am just looking at quality of...

    Vortex Scopes

Howdy guys and gals Was hoping to glean a little personal experience with Vortex scopes from some of you who have actually shot their rifles with it. I am in the market to get a decent glass and was wondering what people think about Vortex. I normally use other scopes but I would really like...

    Ruger SR556 or SR 556E

No I am fully aware of Ruger's tendency to beef up where some companies cut corners. My father has an original Vaquero and that gun is a beast compared to peacemaker clones... Unfortunately i do not think i will be buying either of these rifles. I just sold a custom built competition grade rifle...

    Ruger SR556 or SR 556E

I like that it isn't made from outsourced parts... call me old fashioned (i'm turning 23 Sunday) but I like things made in America. I also like talking to their CEO!

    Ruger SR556 or SR 556E

Basically its either one of these or a Ruger Gunsite Scout or a Ruger SR1911. The only ruger I hate is that little lcp pocket pistol and even it seems to find itself in my hands from time to time. I must be a glutton for punishment...:D

    Ruger SR556 or SR 556E

I have always been a fan of Rugers. Learned to shoot with one, my first gun was one, and my carry concealed is one. I've only ever had problems with one of their SR series and they fixed it within weeks. Ruger's customer service is 2nd to none in my books but thats just my opinion. I have other...
