    What is your "grail" gun?

A "grail gun," by definition, has to be rare and difficult to obtain. Some of the answers here are very common guns. An M1 Carbine? Really? One man's trash... One day at the range a couple of older gents had in company a younger man I would have guessed to be in the 30ish range. They where at...

    Gun "Super Owners"

I own twice as many guitars as guns so... If I'm a "gun super-owner" what kind of guitar owner am I? I need to contact the writer and ask his opinion of that since he's obviously so smart and his opinion is so important.

CCI Small Rifle Fail to Fire

Last Saturday I had my very first primer failure ever. It just happened to be a cci BR4??? I tried three times to fire. I pulled that one after getting home (the other 49 of that batch where all fine. After putting on glasses and ear protection I took a hammer to it and BANG! Not sure what...

Opinion Change - Safety Course Should Be Required

and then there's... Not sure how other states handle it but here in good ol' virginia one has to be trained AND tested to hold a driving permit. Drive a mile or two down interstate 81 to see how well training and testing eliminate us idiots. Believe me, they are not all out of state drivers...

reduced recoil load for 7mm-08,,, or any round

A nod for H4895 and 120 gr Nosler BTs. My 7mm-08 is a slow 11.25 twist but I found a reduceload that gives 0.625" groups at 100 yards. Not sure about terminal because I no longer hunt but with that accuracy good shot placement shouldn't be hard.

Uh oh, momma's not going to be happy

"Next year we'll have been married for 30 years, just gotta know how to pick'em I guess." When my buddy had his music store open, all of the guys that hung out there thought I was the luckiest man Alive because my wife bought most of my guitars for me... some really nice ones. A couple of...

"You're missing something if you have never shot...

    Most memorable: H&H double 450 nitro express #2; M16A1; S&W 500 4" barrel. Still dreaming: M1; Marlin 1895 45-70; .416 Barrett; Browning 1918.

BSA Rocks -or- on the rocks?

No I did not because of the low round count and the fact that this barrel has always done better after getting ten or more rounds down range. She's back to normal with the Nikon - 1/2". So I'm really thinking something just let go inside. I will try the other BSA when opportunity comes. I really...

BSA Rocks -or- on the rocks?

I've always avoided BSA scopes along with most other "inexpensive" (cheap) scopes. Being on a limited budget I fixed myself on a Nikon Prostaff minimum. I've purchased hundreds of their cameras for work so thought I'd give them a try. With 4 3-9's and a 4-12 I feel very confident with these...

    Clip Magazine

Guys, I started the thread from my curiosity about it not to start a debate. That is why I went to the Marlin site. One I 'm interested in this rifle... secondly I was wondering if they had something different going on. I purchased an aid for my wife to load her 380 because the magazine was hard...

I'm not bashing Marlin per si. I bought me daughters both model 795's years back and after mounting 4x had less than 100 bucks each in them. I loved taking them to the range and watch them attract the attention of folks shooting much more expensive rifles. My father-in-law has a 336 he purchased...

What am I missing. I was in Walmart last night killing time in the sports department while the wife was getting some thing when I noticed a Marlin XT-17VSL in the case. It's a nice heavy barreled 17 HMR for a very reasonable price. What struck me odd was that there was a large tag hanging from...

    Quality versus quantity: a puzzle

Being I like to tinker with things (motorcycles, guitars, amps, guns) and being on a very tight budget because of too many hobbies... Also no longer being a hunter and having little access to range time I find myself always trying to improve what guns I have. I have several inexpensive rifles...

The topic is free-floated barrels and my M77

I was told by one of our local smiths that if he bedded and free floated my vanguard sporter (wood stock).223, it would reduce the groups. It was already shooting .5 MOA but I thought a $50 investment to get that even tighter was worth it. The gun shot like crap after. I was fit to be tied...

Why all the hate for the Axis/Edge vs the Stevens 200?

Well the folks I know that shoot the Edge/Axis love them and I R 1. Mine is an Edge. In a past life I owned a M77 in 7mm-08 that was very accurate , then a Mark V Deluxe in 7mag that was awesome. Years later when i thought about shooting again, my hunting days are long over, I just wanted...

    Case Prep Center Recommendations

When first starting a friend loaned me his RBCS since he no longer reloaded. Well after about 6 months he started again so I purchased the Layman. Both worked very well but I think if I had to replace I'd go with the layman again.
