Had the same problem with the 4" barrel birdshead ROA I built. I had to shorten the hand, I used a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel to sand it down, but if your not experienced in metal fabrication, you should use a hand file.
Cool stuff, I used a thick walled piece of plastic tubing for the trigger plunger.
I think it was the vent tube off a car battery, been working just fine for 2 yrs.
This gun has been in my Grandpa's closet since I can remember (1965). I don't how old it is or where he got it. It has something "G & Co" Cincinnati stamped into it. [/IMG]

I'd be interested in a base pin latch, but I want a new style. Instead of a screwdriver slot I'd like the exact opposite, a raised ridge or small lever so that you could turn it by hand.
This is the frame I bought, midway still has them. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/821208/ruger-grip-frame-birds-head-ruger-new-model-single-six-vaquero-large-frame-stainless-steel?cm_vc=ProductFinding . Just "save a search" on ebay for birds head grips, and you'll get a email anytime one...
I bought the grips off of ebay from someone selling off stuff from a gun store, They were made by the "Ajax Custom Grips" company. I think they stopped making them. I bought the grip frame from Midwayusa and fitted it myself.
Well I got a camera but then decided to go ahead and make the swap from the copper strap to the stainless one. sorry I fooled around so long.

I have one of the Century arms imports, and love it. It can hold more that 5 shells. You can load the first five like normal. then add one more to the carrier bar and close. It doesn't transfer to the barrel till you cock it again. If your ready to shoot you can also stuff one in the barrel...
Thats the eventual plan. I did the copper just to see what it would do. I've had it on for about 6 months and its working fine. Stainless is not as easy to work with, so I knocked it out in copper first.
