You have a winner. The -4 is the last of the M19's that are pinned and recessed. In my opinion, your gun really deserves a nice set of factory target grips, they will increase the value and the gun will look and feel much better.
I used to live in Houston and during the summer (11+ months of the year, or so it seemed) I carried a stainless steel gun, kept it clean and wiped it down every night with a slightly oily cloth. Never had a problem.

Also, last time I checked, Cabellas had some bulk 500 ammo at less than $1/round.
I ordered and received 1000 of the ball. It came 50 rounds to a small box, no tray. They are marked Olin so I am guessing they are fairly recent military surplus. Excellent practice ammo, I am going to order 1000 of the wadcutter.
I recently bought one and its a winner. Its now my nightstand gun. Still looking for the perfect light. You can forget your speedloader, with the gun you have the option of using moon clips, much faster than a speedloader.
I have the M&P and like it a lot. The removable top rail that comes with the M&P has a v-groove that permits use of the iron sights with the rail installed. I don't think the TTR8 rail has this groove. You might want to check if you decide to to with the TTR8.
Not sure about this one, but some of the small safes that are fire resistant are intended for documents only. They are fire resistant because they have some type of filler between the inside and outside walls of the safe that promote moisture in the safe. Needless to say, not good for guns...
I have a 500 with the 2.75" barrel and yes recoil is fierce but managable. So far I have only shot 325gr rounds, all outdoors. I noticed that Cabellas has some bulk 500 rounds for about $1/round, thinking about ordering some.
A sample pack from -...
I own both and find myself shooting the 627 much more often. I think the fact that it is a Performance Center gun makes it worth the bucks. The quality, fit and finish is a definite plus on the PC gun. This not to say I don't like my 686, its a great gun.
