Thanks, that's exactly the kind of insight I was looking for. A 2 pound pull would be plenty for me.
When you say reassembly is fun, do you mean fun like building an AR15, or fun like reassembling a Mark II for the the first time?
I'm looking at buying a New Vaquero soon. Actually a pair, for no other reason than to satisfy my cowboy fantasies and improve my shooting skills. I have a Blackhawk now that I love, but I like the looks, weight, and balance of the Vaquero better.
I want to have action jobs done on them to...
I sold and traded a few guns, and it's the revolvers I miss.
Here's my list of shame:
Colt King Cobra
Smith Bodyguard .38 (a stainless one with beautiful rosewood grips, yeah that was dumb)
Ruger Redhawk (dumb dumb dumb)
NAA mini (useless but fun)
I've heard the same type of things said about just about every brand of gun either in shops or at shows. There is literally no gun manufacturer that isn't going out of business next week or is in big trouble because of poor quality if the guy who tells you these tales doesn't have one to sell...
I have an old 66-1 that I just love. I bought from a friend of a friend that needed the money and didn't have any interest in guns (he inherited it) and I was glad to rescue it from sitting in an attic or something.
Here's my question. There is a bit of front to back cylinder play in this...
I'd also like to have a Colt, just because it's a Colt. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
Have you thought about buying the Colts for the collection, and buying a replica to shoot?
It's funny you should mention ammo carrier. I had a pack with a bunch of stuff in it, and a huge amount of ammo that I took to the range. I turned the wrong way or something and the next day my back was all screwed up, to the point I couldn't walk. I'm getting better now.
The comments...
I took my girlfriend to the range this weekend, and I've created a monster. Her take on it was, "We should do this again. A lot. I'm serious."
Yes, I'm going to marry her.
I have the convertible with a 5 1/2" barrel. I noticed it had light pitting in the barrel when I got it home, even though it was new. I decided to shoot it before sending it back to Ruger. After a shooting session and a Belt Mountain base pin I'd never let them touch it. I went out to the...
I was very embarrassed when I shot a target that I thought someone had left on the backstop but the shooter was still there. He chewed me out pretty good for shooting at his target. I gave him one of mine to replace it. After that I realized why I made that mistake. The idiot was shooting...
It will be in the trunk of my car year round. I plan on putting it in a silicone gun sock, and maybe some silica gel dessicant too. I have the same feeling about rust, even if it was just surface rust that didn't affect the functioning of the gun it would make me sick. I'd really like to have...
I was afraid of that. I have no experience with their matte finish but I know a bead blast finish even on stainless steel is bad about rust.
This rustproofing stuff like Shield, could I use it on the bore? Thanks for any help.
In my continuing search for a trunk gun, I'm leaing towards a 700 ADL. I want a bolt gun with sights and a synthetic stock. I'd really like a stainless gun but that's proving to be hard to find.
The 700 ADL models I've seen with a synthetic stock and irons have a matte finish on the...
Am I reading that wrong, or did this guy jet say he saw someone take 4 hits of 7.62 and it didn't even slow him down? I don't doubt the guy but I don't see how that's an argument for bigger calibers.
