    8.15x46 norm

It just so happens that I have one of these actions - actually just the hammer, spring and block - in my shop right now. The customer wants me to make five springs for his gun and for a friend who also has one. I'd much rather find the springs before having to make them as I am up to my neck...

Colt 1911 factory repair or not?

I think rcmodel offers sage advice. Also, since match guns have typically tighter tolerances, check that the gun has a lubrication film on the rails. And this may be a longshot, but are the magazine springs as old as the gun? Change out the mag springs.

    Cutting hardened steel

A little rule of thumb; If you get it hot enough to change its color, usually a real pretty blue, you will change its temper, or hardness. By the way, I've never seen a base pin that was so hard that a file would not touch it. That is way too hard. What problems were your old base pin...

    richards microfit rifle stocks????

Yes. When calling, their mailbox is always full. When e-mailing, they don't answer. the one time I was able to talk to them by phone, near the nine-month mark, they said "...Oh, yes. That is ready to ship." It made me think that my stock had been sitting there all along and thay just decided to...

    richards microfit rifle stocks????

I waited for nine months for a simple Mauser stock in AAA Fancy walnut; they sent a standard grade plain-Jane stock. Sent it back for the correct one and have been waiting now for another three months. It's been a whole year now and no stock. I'm kind of fed up with them and plan to get my money...

    Pump shotgun speed

Personally, after having racked and test-fired many shotguns, I think the 870 is the smoothest with the 1300 in second. But, if you want to see some fast shotgunning, go here; http://www.jspublications.net/records/records.html

    Strange Mossberg

Has anyone ever heard of or have a Mossberg model called a "DA"? I got a call today concerning this model and whether I could adjust its trigger pull. I had to say I'd never heard of one. Clue me in on this one please.

    cheap Double barrel for CAS

You must check out the reproduction Colt 1878 hammered double imported by, I believe, TTN. Also, the Turks have a fairly decent double gun. Both are good guns for the money.

    Perplexing question; ADL and BDL

Does anyone in the world know what "ADL" and "BDL" mean? Inquiring minds want to know. That is to say that I know that an ADL has the blind magazine box and the BDL has the hinged floorplate, but I don't know what the letters stand for.

    Vang Comp systems.

I'm sorry to be contrary, Mr. Lapin, but to believe your technodude without trying the VCS yourself is rather foolish coming from an educated man, is it not? I should think that curiosity would get the better of you. Vang's work is not for everybody; it is intended to benefit those in the LE...

    Shotgun Headspace

If I may add to what Mr. Keenan said, the headspace in the '97 is regulated by the carrier/lifter locking behind the breach bolt. I have seen many cowboy action shooters ruin headspace by polishing the life out of the carrier and any other part that looks like it needs polishing. The fix is to...

    Colt Mustang

I don't want to hijack the thread but, speaking of Colt Mustangs, does anyone know where I can find a Mustang frame? Tried all the usual places; Numrich, First, Thiry, Buckingham, et. al.

    Refinishing a 1911

There would be no reason for Novak to reblue the slide unless they really screwed up the installation. Send it back to them and make them duplicate the parkerized frame.

    Remington 11-87 technical question

The shell latch is staked in. Take it to a smith, preferably one who has the tooling.

did I get the wrong part for my 870?

HWP, Was this a parts gun? It sounds like you had an old-style action bar assembly with an old-style sled and bolt installed. The new action bar design has an extra "nub" as you put it, on the left bar which corresponds with a slot in the new-style sled. This is very curious. As you found out...

    winchester Model 11 "widowmaker"

I did not know that the M11 was called "widowmaker". On the other hand, the Marlin M19 is also called the "widowmaker" and even Marlin recommends not shooting one. The Cowboy Action game does not allow Marlin M19s in competition. I am racking my brain trying to remember the gun's internals as...
